I hate these bits in the Torx design, the little teeth are always rounding off when you apply any pressure to them. Im putting in new carpet/ shift cable and the passenger side Torx bolt that holds down the bottom of the seatbelt assembly is stripped to hell. I mean its completely rounded out. I have no clue what to do. Sorry guys, had to rant. If I ever get that thing out, its being replaced with a good ol' regular bolt. Hopefully i can get this out. If I can, that means new carpet and billet door sills. And along with that, new shift cable, finsh my driveline and get it back on the road.

Take a Dremel with a cutoff wheel and make it into a slot. If that doesn't work then you will have to drill a hole in the middle and use a screw extractor.

hit the head of the bolt with a hammer a few times......then grip it really tight with a pair of nice vicegrips. I mean tight enough to make you knuckles pop. works for me all the time

are you sure you are using the correct size? seriously check again, i managed to get all but 1 of the the seat belt bolts off in my crown victoria with bit that was 1 size to small. by the time i realized that the torx bit was a size to small i had ruined the bolt head. all the other ones were fine

Alright guys, good ideas. Keep them coming! I am pretty sure its the right size, its the biggest size that would fit, and the other bolt came out super easy. I hope this comes out today before lunch. Thanks guys.

Let some penetrating oil soak into to. Smack the head with a hammer. Sometimes, trying to tighten the bolt will actually help break it free so it can then be loosed. If it is in a safe area, heating the bolt with a propane torch can help as well.

can you use a hammer to tap in a size bigger or is the bit tight to the bolt head?

Worst case scenario you can weld a nut to the head, and remove it that way...

vice grips if you can get a good bite on the side.

Alright guys, got it out with the old trusty vice grips. Poured some Coca-Cola on it to loosen it up...man the acids in the Coke really eat up corrosion. After that she came right out. Thanks for the tips guys!

Lol I know, I thought about that...then took a swig of what was left. Haha. Now all I need to do is figure out how to remove the shift cable from the steering column bracket. I already removed the c-clip retainer with a pair of pliers...but dang is that thing still in there.

Did the bolt itself strip or the socket? Honestly, for those crappy Torx bolts, your best bet is to spend the cash and get the Snap-On torx sockets.

yep - buy GOOD sockets and be sure you have the right size and things work much better

a little off topic, but this is especially true with screw drivers.. most people just think phillips and flat head. There are different size of each which work much differently!. If you just grab any old phillips head and screw starts rounding over, grabbing the correct size one will still take it out like nothing. The Bit style screwdriver is nice to have, just pick up a bit set of phillips/flatheads/torx/square bits and youll have any size you'll basically need  Much compact then having each individual screwdriver as well, compact enough to put in the glove box/under the seat no problem

I wish i did have the money to spend on a good snap-on set, as most of my tools are snap-on. But for right now I'm on a super tight budget. Besides all that, all i need is the shift cable to come loose from the bracket welded to the steering column. The little C-clip retainer is removed, just not sure how to take out the cable from there. Any ideas?
