View Full Version : Degreaser? 79scottsdale350 04-30-2007, 07:12 PM i need to know the best degreaser money can buy Pete-FWA 04-30-2007, 07:36 PM Using it on an engine or wheel wells or what project are you tackling? blazenlo95 04-30-2007, 08:23 PM http://www.aviatorcrew.com/media/ac-apf-super32oz.jpg Hands down!! Will burn your nostrils!:D FlareSide 05-02-2007, 07:09 PM CarBrite makes some amazingly strong wheel cleaner acids and a corrosive multi purpose cleaning chemical called "blue max". Either kind (wheel clleaner or blue max) strips corrosion, grease, and grime right off. I used it on 500,000 mile Peterbilt semi truck frames and engines and that stuff strips it down to clean paint. Let it sit for a few minutes..then pressure wash it off. CarBrite chemicals do more than burn nostrils..they burn the lining in your throat, so be careful. I think they are up to your task though. Good luck! stook 05-02-2007, 09:27 PM i just use the cheap chit in the gallon jugs from walmart, works great :D 79scottsdale350 05-03-2007, 06:47 AM im talking about a complete all around cleaner, i have used carbrite and grease lighting and purple power. so far, carbrite is the best i just need a alternative that last longer:rocket: MeanGreen95 05-03-2007, 08:02 AM At the muscle car shop where i work. We use Purple Power for heavy degreasing such as oily engines, underbodys, and prepping parts for paint. For light cleaning underhoods, wheels, and general purpose, we use Simple Green. Both have their own areas that work well. Hope this helps. Nick 03 GMC 1500HD 4X4 05-03-2007, 09:06 AM i like using the purple power 79scottsdale350 05-03-2007, 09:32 AM thanks but like i said i have already used purple power and carbrite i want a alternative from those:rocket: whitesilvy2000 05-03-2007, 11:15 AM Grez-Off or simple green, those seem to work really well. i love Grez-off, works amazingly well for cleaning oil-mud off out here in the desert. juliendogg 05-03-2007, 11:27 AM If you have a friend in the restaurant business, get them to order you a gallon of Viking K-19. That's the strongest commercially available degreaser without having to have a chemical specific license. Just like any degreaser, you have to watch it around aluminum, plastic, and wiring. Really really good stuff. Makes simple grean look weak. J. FarmTruk 05-03-2007, 11:40 AM Cheap-o oven cleaner spray works amazingly well, but you MUST be careful around aluminum, plastic, rubber, wires, ect. If left on long enough, it will strip the paint off an engine block. I use the Wally World brand. The Castrol Super Clean is made of the same chemical as the oven cleaner, so same-same applies to precautions. MedicBiker 05-05-2007, 06:59 AM Gunk Engine Degreaser or Simple Green have always worked well for me. willcarsrule 05-19-2007, 09:26 PM I will only buy commerical degreaser since its so strong.. i want to get what we have at my dealer but its so strong u can breathe while you use it.. i cough my butt off when our detailer users it.
