I've been looking around and want to change out my bench seat in my truck for some buckets, the reason for is I'm not to much of a fan of the bucket A) because it takes all the room, i would like to build a center console B) little to no support. Now the problem I'm having is finding ones that are the color I'm going for but i am more concerned about ones that fit right. I was wondering if anyone has experience in putting buckets into a standard cab OBS and what it generally takes to do so. I also was wondering about fitting NBS buckets into my truck has anyone done this do they fit good? same amount of room? more/less? I'm open for suggestions on seats, I've really had my eye on 95 - 99 buckets which I've been trying to find.

i put buckets in my 89 single cab a long time ago, it was pretty easy. the donor seats were actually captain's chairs from a '88 1 ton ford 4x4 extended cab. both seats even came with a pair of padded arm rests! not just one like some cars.

i went to the junkyard and picked up another pair of mounts, mounted the seats to them, (there was some drilling to get the holes to line up on the slides) then i simply mounted them to the floor using the original holes on the outside and some Grade 8 nuts and bolts on the new inside holes. i used lock washers and double nutted everything to keep the the nuts from backing off. make sure you get the stiff wires that come with them, you need these to tie the seat adjusters together on your "new" set of mounts.

of course you'll need to check for undercarpet wires when doing this, and if i recall correctly, my catlytic converter heatshield was in the way, so i put the nut between it and the floor, and then double nutted on the outside, a little overkill i know, but i didn't want to have to do it over again.

later when i fell in love, SWMBO wanted the bench back in, so out with the cool seats and in with the snuggling seat.

oh yeah, i made a speakerbox for the center console, it held a 12 inch cerwin vega. the sub sat on top and had a metal waffle grill to protect it. it was ported out the front and i just barely had enough room to shift. of course looking back, the console probably looked like cr*p but man i thought i was cool.

that was 13 years ago, before digital cameras, i might have some photos laying around, i think they're in storage, if i find them i'll scan and post.

i think you'll like putting the buckets in, the only problem i had is since the seats came out of an extended cab, they were very thick, they had the zipper storage, map pockets and padded velour on back, so they couldn't scoot back far before hitting the back of the cab, stopping my sliding glass window. i'm short, so it didn't bother me, but it bothered my 6 foot tall cousin when he tried driving it.

in short, i loved having the buckets and center console, i wish i'd never changed things up...now i'm on the prowl for some replacements, maybe out of a OBS extended cab...with shorter, thinner backs.

hope that helped.
