Tahoehtp, what size drop do you have right now on the tahoe in your sig, that is really almost the perfect height I want my truck to be at. Was it all bolt on or was there fabricating involved? Id like a nice drop kit that bolts right in. Thanks
tahoehtp
06-28-2007, 05:33 PM
Bowtie95 that's 2/2 drop. just torsion key and shackle. not cutting required on that. all are just replacing factory one to the drop one. total of 6 bolts to loose and put them replace( 2 for torsion adjust bolts and 4 for shackle)
BowTie95
06-28-2007, 09:14 PM
So the tahoe in your sig has a 2/2? Thats cool that the procedure is that simple. I love the look of lifted and lowered trucks, but if I lifted my truck I'd end up going through balljoints and bearings and all that pretty quick when I went mudding, so I figured the safer way was to lower. Can you go any lower with just the torsion key and shackle? Thanks
tahoehtp
06-28-2007, 09:45 PM
you can use hanger on the rear to drop more. I think 2/5 is the max you can go.
BowTie95
06-28-2007, 09:51 PM
Oh, so you can only go down 2 in the front? Alright, I'll have to look into some kits, any reccomendations?

I used spring tech on ebay. they are not bad and did'nt have any problem with it.

Ha Ha yeah man I PMed him about that while ago...........
My bud taking some pics for me at shop. He is trying to get it done by tomorrow for me... so my son can enjoy before he fly to visit his cousins in Finland...
for the hub yes that's what it's going to be done. I think that's the simple way to do it instead of buying other spindles etc. and when something happens easier to work with.
This isn't mine but he done same way, and he just swapped from hydro to bag. it's a pretty simple just like you would do on 2wd.

yeah I'll post them it rained little after I had to go get my gf and return her rav4... hope nice tomorrow so I can take more pics.
prob is that on drriverside rear there is spacer added because stockers are too wide and hitting the upper bag mount... so either I put 255/35/20 on the rim I have on my sig on rear then figure out front.. it may tuck in with that but I doubt it.(what's on that 20's are too tall as well same hieght as stocker)
tahoehtp
07-14-2007, 10:48 AM

measured backspace on the rear up. I'm cleared on spaces between the rim and bag. so that's good.

dropping them back monday.
have him fix it right there.
tahoehtp
07-14-2007, 04:29 PM
I took some pics and pointed out to him where it's wrong.
upper plate is wider than upper control arm inner width.
so he gonna have to straighten the plate, cut the sides so it clears with at least some gap in between the plate and arm, and also gassets.
I'm not gonna leave the shop til he gets it done, or I'm gonna be putting my hands on and show him to get it right.... seriously.
1 and 1/2 at most turned into 3weeks, then this. getting bit pissed about it.
tahoen
07-15-2007, 08:42 PM
Damn, That really blows! Hopefully he'll straighten everything out!
tahoehtp
07-15-2007, 08:48 PM
yeah talked to him yesterday and today, I'm gonna have it done other way that he does. so that upper cup mount will be below upper control arm. and no cup mounts on top and botton, just go straight to the plate itself. then there will be gassets on upper plate.
It wouldn't be twisted if the upper/lower mounts were in line with each other.
tahoehtp
07-16-2007, 01:48 PM
well I took it in at little before 10am,
looks like what caused it was there was no bump stop.
way he set this up is uppercontrol to not go above the plate.
so there was no bump stop, airs out, then arm hit the plate, then beds it.
he straighten the plate, then put 2 gassets on it, and also bump stop. and now I have shock mount setup and put on as well.
while there he had 20x8.5 rims so we mounted and tested that it will go. but with bump stop now it will stop right at tire and fender meets(when I get the 255/35/20). don't ahve to tuck in really. since it's daily and dont want t stuck on road and can't lifet it up or drive it till something can lifet up the hoe.
so it rides much better and I'm happy again.
Post pics of how he fixed it.
Just because someone has been in mags with their work doesn't honestly mean anything these days.
tahoehtp

Here is the pic for the front.
it now has 2 plates on the top to prevent from vending if control arm hits. I also has the bumpstop on lower control arm now so that it will stop before it hits it..
so if I want to go lay frame, I need to shave the plate so control arm can pass through, then remove bump stop.

After carlise, I'm thinking about do this, so that upper plate is between the upper control arm and lower, angled with lower plate. so there is no cup in between....
so I can lay frame without having any problem...
or simply shave the upper plate so upper control arm can pass through the plate and lay frame.

how are the bag angles looking now?
tahoehtp
07-23-2007, 05:24 PM
bags are much straight now. so it's not pushing out like it did before. rides better but thinkin about slam RE7's I like the stiffer ride. firestone feels more bouncy.

nah half shaft is removed so it's 2wd now.
Thats too bad. I really would like to keep my 4wd.
tahoehtp
08-13-2007, 11:08 AM
you can bag it with 4wd half shaft still intact. that's most of the newer chevy's getting bagged.
check at the 4x4 streeet thread on the bagging 4wd.
I have done some reading though those threads. I think I'm going bagged after I pay the truck off and see how I like it... if it sucks, I'll swap components over to a 2wd I'll have sent up.

yeah if you set up front like 2LOW4ND did, then you should be fine.
if you want to take half shaft out, let me know I"ll put up some more pics and info.
