View Full Version : How to remove all TM?

I have read several how-to's about removing TM, but all of them are for the gen III motors and trannys. I have an '07 Sierra Denali with the L92 6.2L V8 and the 6L80E tranny.
I use HPTuners software. The tables from my '06 Silverado to the tables and options on this '07 are way different
What I want to do is learn how to remove all or even just a percentage of the TM.
My tune file is too large to attach, but I can email it if anyone needs to see it. If anyone has any experience on these, your help would be awesome :rocking:

I might have more luck on performancetrucks.net or the hp tuners forum...

Or continue to post here as well. The point of these forums is to encourage people to post up and share tuning knowledge.
I'd offer you some pointers Kenny, but we'd be speaking a different language since I am an EFILive user.

I have the same question posted at HPTs forum, but I want to see these new sub forums get some use too :aniteef:
Thanks anyway Justin...maybe someone can chime in. If not, when I find the answer, I will post it here.

Can you upload the tune file someplace that I could download it? Should be fairly easy.

I tried to zip it and load it here, but FSC has a max file size of 500kb...my tune is 3.3mb. Where would be a good place to upload it?
If it helps, I have it in the tune repository on HPTs site.

I didn't mean to discourage him from posting here, just those specific forums are more dedicated to that sort of thing. Idealy if he should find the information he needs there, he would return here and repeat what he learned.
Try www.putfile.com

I just uploaded it last night. They might not have approved it yet :dunno:
I'll try putfile.com later...I can't access it from work.

Try www.putfile.comTo add to what Justin said, the goal here is to make these forums specific to truck tuning and share the knowledge of all tuning platforms. This should be the place where truck tuners come for specific knowledge. I have played with EFILive and HPTuners but only enough to know that with my old school ways of tuning, I can do what I need to do with TunerCat OBDII so that is what I use until I have a need for something else. I use MXScan for logging. For the OBDII stuff, this is where I will share my knowledge when I can.
As for removing TM, it is basically the same on all the platforms although the tables may have slightly different names. Figure out which tables and constants and switches limit torque output then edit them. If you like I can post the names from TunerCat OBDII if that helps.

That's the problem I am having...I don't see any tables :dunno:
There's a few enable/disable buttons, but not the tables that my '06 had. That's what has me so confused. I'll post some screen shots tonight if I get some time. Thanks guys!

My '06 file had these options had a few options there and a master enable/disable for abuse mode under the tranny TM tab :dunno:

Well, I decided to make a few changes and make my first write to the PCM! Here's some screen shots of the changes.
I disabled all of the TM master switches for the trans.
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e352/KDCarrollJR/HPTuners%20Screen%20Shots/TransTMChanges.jpg
and I lowered the PE Delay RPM from 5000 to 0 and raised the PE enrich rate from 0.05 to 2.0 (Suggestion from HPTs forum).
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e352/KDCarrollJR/HPTuners%20Screen%20Shots/PEChanges.jpg
and I also zeroed out the A/C torque reduction table
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e352/KDCarrollJR/HPTuners%20Screen%20Shots/ACTorquereductablezeroedout2.jpg
It pulls a lot harder now and it doesn't seem to fall flat on it's face near as bad between shifts either. Am I on the right track? What other changes should I make?

I see you got piston protection set above 8000 rpms. does it rev that high?
what does the max shift torque button do?
justin

The AC torque reduction will specify (indirectly) how much timing should be reduced when the AC clutch engages and disengages.
What does your PE EQ ratio table look like?

The piston protection was set that way from the stock tune.
The max shift torque is also maxed out from the factory.
I didn't change any of that...I only changed what I listed :aniteef:

I changed the A/C tq red. table per a trusted guy on HPTs forum...was it a bad thing to change???
All other tables are stock. I only changed what I show in the screen shots :aniteef:
It runs like a raped ape now! It tends to rev a little between shifts occasionally though.

That is not good, its called a "flare" or the engine rpm flares up between the shifts.
This is hard of the frictions in the trans. Sounds liek you may need to either 1`) Do some trans parameter tuning or 2) Install a shift kit.
be careful when changining the fueling, I wouldnt screw with teh PE enrichment or other fueling TOO TOO much without a wideband O2 sensor. But I am a cautious person, when it comes to WOT fueling. You are in essence tuning blindly without a wideband.

:word:
If it is happening just after you reflashed the transmission calibration, then your adaptive shift cells are likely zero'd out and need to re-learn the right pressure. This is an indication that your base pressures are too far off of what is needed to achieve your desired shift times. Bump up the base pressure in the shift where this flare occurs.

I didn't think it was a good thing either...just not sure how to fix it. Since my truck is still pretty new, HPT doesn't have very many options in the way of TM. All there is the 4 master switches shown above.
As far as fueling goes, you are 100% correct IMO! I am not changing any of the fueling until I get a WB. I did change the time it takes for the PE to kick in and at what RPM it would kick in.

There aren't any shift pressure tables available to me yet...only the shift speed/rpm tables. :dunno:

I read this whole thread and still have a question. My truck is a 97' and I want to remove all TM using my JET DST software. Is anyone familiar with how to do this? Thanks.

I have 4 tables:
1. Torque Management Spark Retard Vs. RPM
2. % Torque Loss Due to Spark Retard Vs. Retard
3. Torque Management MBT Spark Vs. RPM Vs. MAP
4. Torque Management MBT Spark Retard Vs. Torque Loss
Which table(s) do I modify? What does MBT mean? I have already set my shift points; moved my speed limiter to 256mph; and got my trans to shift from 3rd to 4th at WOT @5100rpm. I love this program, I just wish they would either give you a manual or have the help files explain what each table is for. Thanks.

You need to go to CONSTANTS..> TRANS PARAMETERS >Torque Management Enable Coolant Temp. to its max value (151.5° Celsius in the Tunercats programming, Tunercats 2 is Jet DST's brother).
Thta will give you 100% TM disabled.
