ShotgunFacelift 10-18-2007, 03:23 PM when a 4x4 is lowered, the driveshafts are actually under LESS stress, as they are more in line with each other. Im not hating, just wondering I wish I was able to save money like that, rent/insurance/debt take up ALL my money... hey man, its all good, i get that a lot. "where u gettin the money?", "how can a 15 year old know anything about cars?", etc. like i said before, this project is gonna be a "father son" thing so my dad pitches in when he can. he's a good teacher too. oh, you forgot gas in your list. at almost $4 a gallon here its damn expensive. haha ShotgunFacelift 01-27-2008, 06:56 PM yup, gas is a big part of the "ect." about $70 for ALMOST a full tank... 97'hoe350 01-28-2008, 02:16 AM yup, gas is a big part of the "ect." about $70 for ALMOST a full tank... my dad filled up the other day and spent $100 on diesel (this was on an f-250 runnin on fumes, and he filled it). way too expensive. plus my tahoe doesnt get the best fuel milege in the world, i got 17 on the way to the shop. still havnt gotten the thing back, Belltech sent us some faulty springs. :banghead: so we had to send em back, wont be on the road for another week. :bawl: so i hope to get som pics soon. 97' spot me 2 01-28-2008, 09:42 AM D*mn, 17. The best I've gotten in mine is 15 all highway. Sorry to here about the springs. Post some pics when you get it back. 97'hoe350 01-28-2008, 10:35 AM D*mn, 17. The best I've gotten in mine is 15 all highway. Sorry to here about the springs. Post some pics when you get it back. ya, i usually get about 15-16 on highway (i take the highway to get to the shop that the hoe' is at) anywhere from 10-14 around town. well we did have the truck running and on the road with the faulty spring, while we were filling it up we noticed the rear passenger side wheel was offset in the wheel well, so we took it back and took it back apart, looked at both the leafs and they looked totally different!. so ill live. but belltech is paying for shipping and the new parts, so i dont have to fork out more money because they skrewed up (thats always a good thing). expect pics next week some time. here are some pics of the truck before the lowering kit, just to tide everyone over lol: http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb171/jumpinjazz/P1010014.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb171/jumpinjazz/P1010015.jpg InMoSpo 01-31-2008, 01:59 PM Is there a 2/2 4WD kit out there? Can I just adjust the Torsion bars on the front to get a little drop? I have been looking through all the drops, and the 265/70-17 07 Silverado Wheels are about an inch taller than the 245/75-16's stockers I had on there. They are essentially the same diameter as the Z71 265/75-16's that were available for my 99 'Hoe. When I look at the 3/3.5 drops like Tahoen's, I think it might be just a bit too low for my comfort. Especially since the 265's look wider and have a better chance of rubbing the fenders if dropped too low. I don't tow with this truck, that's what my 93 GenIII Sierra is for, I am looking to lower more for aero/handling than all out looks. ANybody know if the Police Z56 Tahoe rear springs sit the truck any lower? The GM parts catalog does not show a different spring for the regular Tahoes and the Z56 POlice package, but I know the front sits lower. Looks like the Belltech kit is adjustable, anybody have any feedback on the setup? Any worries about pinion angle when you put the drop shackles on the back? Thanks for taking all the Q's. Just getting up to speed with 4WD.. 97'hoe350 01-31-2008, 05:30 PM . Any worries about pinion angle when you put the drop shackles on the back? if i remember right, a couple people told me that it actually improves the pinion angle from stock. and yes the torsion bars are adjustable. i believe you can adjust them from about 1-3" and also i just found a link to a site that has a kit that is ajustable from 1-3" in the front and 2 in the rear. heres the link if u wanna check it out: http://www.spooledmotorsports.com/suspensionpage.php?suspension=BellTech%204WD%20Lowering%20Kit%20-%2095-99%20GMC%20Yukon%20(Drop%201-3in%20Front%2C%202in%20Rear) Its for a kon' but i believe that they are interchangeable. dont quote me on this but check it out, its all over. hope ya find the kit ur lookin for, 350 96tahoelt 02-05-2008, 06:57 PM A couple of pics from yesterday. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/xgp28/Tahoe/020408/020408013.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/xgp28/Tahoe/020408/020408006.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/xgp28/Tahoe/020408/020408012.jpg gooberchevy 02-06-2008, 12:04 PM I followed your build up on gmfs...looks great 96tahoelt spot me 2 02-08-2008, 12:53 PM Some new pics now that it's lowered. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h9/spotme2/100_4766.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h9/spotme2/100_4774.jpg 92 BLAZE 02-12-2008, 02:46 AM http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f192/92blaze/?action=view¤t=101_1879.jpg http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f192/92blaze/?action=view¤t=101_1880.jpg Here's mine* RaiN 02-19-2008, 03:42 PM Heres mine... HELP PLEASE:help: :help: :help: Those are the tires I am running. They don't rub unless I hit a very big bump. The front end on you truck probably settled down more after you drove it. Get it aligned, crank the tbars just a little to stop the rubbing. I had to reset mine after I got it aligned. New shockes couldn't hurt. 97'hoe350 03-21-2008, 05:33 PM Those are the tires I am running. They don't rub unless I hit a very big bump. New shockes couldn't hurt. ya the smallest bump and im hittin on my 17" lades i think the 20's are about an inch bigger so idk man. the 20's are also hella wider than the 'lades so im worried about loc-to-loc turning. im thinkin about gettin some of those shocks from belltech. i believe they are the "nitro drop" shocks. the shocks i have on it now are the origionals so they have 135K+ miles on em'. TowBeast 03-21-2008, 07:25 PM Here is a couple of mine. Still trying to figure out the wheel/lift set up I want. http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10789&d=1203904551 http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10790&d=1203904574 96tahoelt 03-24-2008, 10:43 AM ya the smallest bump and im hittin on my 17" lades i think the 20's are about an inch bigger so idk man. the 20's are also hella wider than the 'lades so im worried about loc-to-loc turning. im thinkin about gettin some of those shocks from belltech. i believe they are the "nitro drop" shocks. the shocks i have on it now are the origionals so they have 135K+ miles on em'. I have the same size tire as you currently and have only hit a handful of times and that was on some big bumps/potholes. I have the nitro drop shocks. Don't know if that's the difference or not. WetPaintYukon 03-24-2008, 10:51 AM Would 265/75/16's fit with no rub if i just took out the fat leaf in the back and cranked the front down a lil? 97'hoe350 03-24-2008, 08:57 PM Would 265/75/16's fit with no rub if i just took out the fat leaf in the back and cranked the front down a lil? arent those stock for tahoes??? if they are, then i dont see any reason they shouldnt. they worked just fine with my tahoe. i found out the reson for the rubbing... my shocks are shot, so until i get new ones we cranked the front up about an inch so it only rubs a lil on the big bumps, still looks mean, but i wanna get those 20's to fit. :bawl: gotta get it alligned still so i hope that will help. has anyone gone as low to have to use tubs? thanks 350 Siahnide 03-27-2008, 11:45 PM does anybody seen or heard of a problem with clearance/rubbing with a DJM 3" Control arm drop and 5" shackle/hanger & removal of the lift block, with a set of 265/55/r20?
