Im fairly sure I've decided on the HD-2 , but it says it is a "reprogramming " kit. Does that mean that it deals with the computer , or is it just hardware pieces. Also, does anyone know how hard/ soft this kit is capable of. Say, someone who has it set on the softest vs. someone who has it set on the firmest setting. Thanks

It does nothing to the pcm, and I believe that you decide how firm to make it.

A retune will help dial in the HD2 kit the way you want it. stock tune should be okay, you will feel the torque management holding you back!!!!
I have it at the lowest street setting with one spacer in the accumulator housing, no gold servo spacer rings installed, didnt need it clearance was too tight. my custom tune had too much line pressure and shifting fron 1-2 was harsh as he11111!!!
barked the tires at 1/2 throttle. retuned computer, lowered line pressure back to stock fixed the 1-2 so it is midly harsh at wide open throttle. also got rid of most of the torque management, holding it back. readjusted shift points a little and its dialed in for how I like it!!!! Imo you will want a tune or retune. Its easier to retune the computer than to drop the pan and go through all the hassle of changing accumulator spacers for shift firmness.
