Trans Question

I had my PCM tuned by a tuner. Now when I am in overdrive and I let off the gas the tranny downshifts to third. When I give it gas again it upshifts to overdrive again. Is this going to hurt my transmission any?

Well it sounds a little ass backwards. I wouldn't think it would be too serious as far as hurting your transmission, but I would say that is unexceptable. I would think it is putting more strain on your engine, since your not properly downshifting when you hit the gas. What exactly were you looking to accomplish by reprogramming your pcm?

It only upshifts if I give it alittle gas. If I stomp on it, it will downshift to the proper gear. I was looking for more performance by reprogramming my PCM. I definitely got that out of it. I just didn,t want to hurt my tranny.

if you stay off the gas and give it brake, will it eventually downshift to second, like the grade braking on an Allison? I've heard of grade braking being programmed in on non-Allison trannies.

No, it doesnt downshift to second it stays in third until it comes to a stop. It only kicks in and out of overdrive. I actually like the way it shifts but I just want to make sure I'm not hurting the trans.
