View Full Version : What hardware are you using for tuning?
I presently have a plain usb-aldl cable for logging and a flash'n'burn for burning my proms, but I am interested in upgrading.
I was looking at Moates APU1 AutoProm Package and was curious if anyone else has it and if so what do you think. Next question would be why this one over the Ostrich?

I use the Burn1, Flash n Burn, EBL from dynamicefi.com.
THey have a new "Flash EBL" which basically incorporates Autoprom into the computer. One wire tuning!!! It's on the wish list.

It appears that the EBL is a one vehicle unit, is this so? would it be a pain to use it on another vehicle?

what you need...
* A BIN editor (such as WinBIN or TunerPro)
* A chip burner (only required with the EBL Classic, not the EBL Flash)
* Flash or EPROM's. Can be '128, '256, or '512 in size (such as the 27C256 EPROM). (only required with the EBL Classic, not the EBL Flash)
* Laptop for data logging, minimum requirements: 266 MHz, 32 MB RAM, Win95, 800x600 screen resolution, serial port or USB with a serial to USB adapter
* ECM to be converted to an EBL system. The ECM can be any one of the following:
1226868 '85 MonteCarlo?
1227429 S10 2.8l, '86-'88
1227746
1227747 Many Trucks & Vans
1228062 Blazer
1228063 Camaro, Firebird: '88
1228746 Camaro, Firebird, Caprice: '89-'92
1228747 Truck
1228838 Lumina, '90, 3.1l
16136965 Caprice, Roadmaster wagon: '91-'94?
16144288 Blazer
16146299 Truck
16149405 Trans Sport,Silhouette, Lumina: APV, '93 3.1l
16196391 Lumina, Trans Sport, '94-'95, 3.1l
Note that once converted to the EBL system all of these ECMs will be the same. There will no longer be any difference between them.
If your vehicle uses one of these ECMs, the EBL ECM will be plug compatible. Most will be Plug'n'Play, some will need a pin or two moved on the harness connector (easy to do). In other words, unplug your stock ECM and plug in an enhanced EBL ECM with all of the features.

You all ready Have the aldl cable and the flash'n'burn add the Ostrich and you almost have the equivelant of the AutoProm.
Although the AutoProm does have a three channel A/D for hooking up other devices like a WideBand O2 ect. for logging.
If the EBL supported electronic shift transmissions I would have already owned one by now.
I my self own the AlDU1 usb to aldl converter, flash'n'burn owned the first two before I bought the Ostrich.
If I had to do it all over again it would have been the AutoProm the first time around.
