About 2 years ago or so, i borrowed my aunts 03 pt cruiser to drive back and forth to work, its damn good on gas, so we swapped vehicles. Anyway, its a black car, and we all know how hot black gets. Anyway, i had accidentally left a full can of unopened pepsi in the car that i was going to take into the plant with me. Well, i forgot. I came back out 10 hours later to open the driver door and fuggin pop EVERYWHERE. I cleaned it up half assed, but i got in it recently and noticed that its coming back strong. My aunt thinks its funny and give me chit about it. I want to get it out, but im afraid of using stuff on the headliner as i dont want to ruin it... Ill get some pics of it tomorrow, its pretty bad.....

Edit, here are the pics!

I used armorall wipes on my headliner. The universal clean it all ones. They got bbq stains out that were there for months on my tan headliner.

Try meguaiars Quick out stain remover. I removed fruit punch from carpets with it.

First of all its SODA!!!! not pop.

Second of all, I don't think you can ruin the headliner anymore than it is

I second that! :D

Careful using anything strong on those types of headliner materials. Less moisture and less pressure is essential for two reasons.

The material is laminated onto a foam padding. If it gets too wet and/or gets scrubbed, it will separate. Ever been in one of those vehicles with a saggy headliner?

Since it's a newer vehicle, you're probably not dealing with something that's half dry-rotted and just looking for an excuse to come apart, but caution is still important. I have seen plenty of materials go bad on 1-2 year old vehicles when cleaned wrong (or sometimes, at all.)

Use a dry, clinging foam type cleaner and some absorbant, yet soft towels. Work a small area lightly. It might come out with one try, but probably not. Just go to another area.

After the first section is dry (have fans and warm conditions if possible) in, say, 30 minutes or more, then you can go after it again.

Soda stains can be tough to remove with this method. The alternative is scrubbing harder or using a harsher cleaning chemical and causing potential damage.

Good luck removing it.

I got all of them out, well, im pretty sure i did. It was dark by the time i finished. I used Tuff Stuff and some Terry towels and just worked my way around the head liner. After i got done with it, i rolled down all the windows and opened up the sun roof and went for a cruise down the high way to dry it out a bit. Its looking pretty good. Ill try to take some pics of what it looks like now if i have the time.

Damn man you sure did a number on that ****

Just for a reference, I've heard using 10 parts of water to 1 part of simple green works wonders too.

I bet 10 parts simple green 1 part water works even better! And yeah, here in central texas we pretty much call everything Coke, even if it's Pepsi. And I don't like pepsi much, i'm more of a Dr. Pepper guy, and every restaurant in town has either pepsi products or coke, but they ALL have Dr. Pepper. Other parts of the country have Mr. Pibb, but it's not as good. It's better than soda water, which I heard when I was in Arkansas. :jacked:

Oxy Clean will take it right off. I use it in my boat all the time. I wouldn't use simple green. It will leave a light green tint to the areas that you clean.

:word: Everything here that comes in a can is "coke" even if its Pepsi, Mr. Pibb, etc.
