View Full Version : Removing Bug Shield?

I have a big problem. The guy who owned it before me. Had this bug shield. And i tried removing it. And the screw are so far rusted and stripped. I don't know how to remove it. What can I do?

I have had great luck with the craftsman stripped screw set. I'll try and find a pic for you.

Or you can CAREFULLY drill them out

I've drilled them out before, and there is a new tool that drills out the screw to a cone shape, and has a reverse threaded bit that screws into it and pulls it out. Looks like it worked well in the comercial.:D

Before you go out and buy a screw extracter, try grinding a slot in it with a dremel tool or if you have a lot of time, a hacksaw blade. Then you can use a flathead screwdriver on it.

If you do buy an extractor, don't skimp on it. You can easily break the bits in cheap kits.

I have done the hacksaw trick before with good luck. I forgot about that, give it a try first.
