I just bought a new truck and I was wondering if GM puts any was on them from the factory? Should I go ahead and clay bar, polish, and wax?
There is also some sticky residue on the chrome emblems on the side of the truck. What would be the easiest way to get this off?

Paint is at its best when it leaves the factory and goes downhill from there. There is probably no need to polish unless you can see swirls or scratches. If the paint feels smmoth there is no need to claybar either. For the emblems try some degreaser, Stoner makes a good one (yellow cap, green and black can).
Wax is always a good thing...

I have to disagree. My truck turned the clay bar almost brown. I don't drive on dirt roads or live in a highly populated urban city or anything either. It was two months old when I clayed it. You have to remember that these are transported on rail cars and hauler trucks full of rust and can also sit on lots for months at a time. I didn't think I needed to but was glad I did.
I don't know about the wax but it never hurts. It really brought out the shine in my black paint.
As for the emblems, I used Goo Gone when I debadged my truck. Just remember to wax after because whatever remove the adhesive is likely to remove the wax as well.
