the 91 needs a drac box and wire and you'll need a tach wire also. the 88-91 are the same plug and play as is the 92-94. then the 95-98 interchange .

I think that $550 price was cheaper than when you could even get them new from the dealer. I think they retailed for $650+.

As the others have said, the 92 is not a direct plug 'n play for a 91 dash as they changed the connector and wiring. I was lucky enough to get a hold of a 91 454SS Canadian (KM/H) cluster about a year and a half ago for $350 US. :cheer: Haven't been able to install it yet as the truck has been in storage for the last couple of years. Can't wait to break it out next summer!!

so since my truck is a 92 i need to lookin for a 92 454ss cluster? also does it make a diff that my truck was a v6 and is not a v8? my cluster reads wrong now so i would like to fix that.

I don't 'think' it makes a difference if it was a V6 or V8 but I don't know that answer 100% definitively. If your truck is a 92 then the 92 SS cluster will be a direct drop in. The speedo will be out and I'm not sure how to adjust this on the 92+ clusters but I think it is with the DIP switches. On the 91 and older there is a chip that gets plugged into the back of the cluster to recalibrate the speedo after you blow the factory fuse out of it.

If its got a V8 you need a V8 cluster, wiring is the same.

Thanks for the clarification. What would not work? I have to assume the tach signal as everything else 'should' be the same whether it's a V6 or V8, no?

The tach in the cluster is different for the V6 as it has 2 less cylinders...

I thought what he was trying to say was would this cluster work in a truck "originally" equipped with a V6? Sounds like the V6 might have been removed and replaced with a V8? If it was, then it should be just a direct drop in with the V8 and distributor I would think. I know the clusters between a V6 and V8 are physically different but if the motor has been swapped....

Why would a big block cluster come with only a 60 psi oil pressure gauge. ??????

the tach will work, it just wont read as high anymore. it will be 2 cyl slow = about 1500rpm less @ redline
