1993 tranny?

I got a 93 ex cab with a 305. I need to know what tranny I have so I can buy a shift kit for it. I don't like how sluggish it is. It shifts fine, but I want it to shift a little harder.

does it have a TV cable or just an electrical plug its either going to be a 700r4 or a 4l60e same tranny just controlled different if it has a TV cable AKA (shift cable coming to the throttle linkage then its a 700 if it doesnt it is a 4l60e

93 would be a 4L60E. No TV cable, its all controlled electronically.


A transgo shift kit is the best most effective way to increase the shift firmness and it fixes a lot of pesky problems that has plagued the 60E as well.

how much do these shift kits run, and are they easy to install?

50-120 depending on if you want the jr or the high performance kit. Transgo reccomends proffesional installation only, but a lot of people are doing their own shift kits with ease and sucsess, so if you decide to take it on there are gonna be plenty of people here to help you with any questions you may need. I'm also thinking about doing a step by step with my digital camera and posting it to aid in the process if that is something you think would be of value on this site.

would this help as far as some of the bad things I am hearing about towing with the 4L60E, or would I be better off swapping a 4L80E if that's possible?
