How do i go about removing old touch up paint without damaging the other paint around it? The pictures below Shows what the current paint looks like and i hate it the previous owner thought that it would look good and it doesnt i want to try and get it to blend in with the current paint and not make it so noticable. Thanks

Dab some lacquer thinner on a towel and rub along the touch up paint.

How are you going to paint it back? Are you going to use another touchup paint to fill the spot?

well i filled the spots and painted it back. For my first time im actually impressed with the results it's not perfect because i couldn't sand it down smooth enough but with the human eye it looks 100x better then it did.

You may be able to wet sand that to kinda finesse it a little bit if you want to.

:word: If you've got access or know someone with experience, a little wetsanding and a rotary buffer could help that "Disappear." I would NOT TRY IT if you've got no prior experience.

It reall may be worth a try even if you have no experience. You may just have to paint again. Good practice.

Had no expericence... tried it anyway i couldn't get it to sand down smooth in one direction (Up and Down) but the other direction(Left & right)it sanded smooth. If you run you hands across it you can't feel the bump but you can see if it the light hits it the right way it's not that big of a deal im happy with it, My main goal was to not make it such a eye sore the scratch is still there as it wasent deep and just needs to be buffed out but the doors have been fixed to my liking. I still need to go over the entire truck with a agressive polisher and a nice wax and sealant and it should bring back the shine and get rid of most the scratches.
Heres the finished product and a one last eye sore that has to be fixed. The touch up job looks much better in person and it looks 100x better then the huge chips with rust and paint flaking off.

Since this post is getting some attention now can someone recommend a good way to remove the chrome trim from around the wheels? I know there screwed in but the screws don't seem to want to come out and i would like to replace the trim because it has alot of door dings in it and doesnt look good at all. Any help would be great.

Soak the daylights out of the screws with some penetrating oil such as PB Blaster or WD-40.
If the heads are rounded from trying to unscrew them unsuccessfully, drill them out.
The touchup looks much better than the work done previously.

Thanks for the info.. I've sprayed them a couple of times just letting them soak it looks i might have to take the wheels off to get a decent size screw driver in there to remove them.
That original touch up job looked like my 7 year did it.

Looks like you gotta bad case of rust! even more reason to get rid of the trim. if worse comes to worse you can cut the heads off and drill it out. It will look better anyway.

Actually that spot on the truck is the only spot rusted on the whole entire vehicle not including the under carriage. I don't know what happened in the corner but i have yet to see any other suburban with the spot rusted out so i know it wasent a factory defect in paint or metal. I did managed to remove one of the trim pieces and it didn't seem to look right with out it so i didn't bother trying to remove the rest of them.
