In the endless pursuit to collect quality tools and use them, it becomes necessary to organize them. Over the years I've collected quite a few tools, and I'm still trying to find a place to house them all. I know the saying, A place for everything, and everything in its place" but I'm running out of, not space, but organization ideas.

I try to keep the tools I work with everyday out in view and on-hand. Wrenches, nutdrivers, pliers, hammers, crescent wrenches, the like. Even a metric and standard socket set hang on my wall for quick grab, the more rare needed ones stay in the box's. (Box's are chock full of nicer stuff) I've got that hanging board stuff on one wall, but never seem to have enough hangers, so i find myself driving nails. In one pic there is a large amount of Files that have no home yet, and i need to figure out something for that. I've found a lot of good otherwise useless items can hold handy stuff. Such as a bolt w/eyelet holds a small maglite when screwed in wood, and various size PVC is good for other sizes. I even made a sort of hanger out of some 4" pipe i found for my Drill (pictured on the wall). I've got so many tools, 1/2"-3/8" 1/4" 1" six point and twelve point sockets and ratchets, I've probably got 4 of each size craftsman wrench on my wall, pipe wrenches....the list goes on and on. Bolt pullers, brushes i've collected over the yrs.

I'm only 22, so I realize there is time enough to collect and organize these things, but i want it all now. I was wondering if you all could post your garage, shop, or workspace, maybe you have some nifty ideas I could steal! Also extension cord placement would be nice, i've got about 20 100ft'ers. Thanks a lot.

well, not much to see, but here goes! Noy much compared to the others. I just try to keep it organized! I don't even keep my truck in it!

As soon as the outlets are hooked up, the wall with the grille by it will be a bit more organized as well. It's a work in progress, like everything else!

Nice, I like the cabinets. You know I never even thought to put a paper towel holder in my garage....I'll have to get on that! Its those little things that make everything so much smoother.

It just saves me from getting the door dirty going into the kitchen! Or the kitchen itself dirty! There would be a problem then!

Thanks, by the way! Like I said, it is still a work in progress. The cabinets just went in last week, and they help out a lot! I want to put something up on the wall where the mops and brooms are, to keep the paint good. That was painted right before the cabinets went up. That garage was a mess a month ago!

Yes I think my garage and truck will always be a work in progress. It is never done. Hell if you really look at it Life is a work in progress too. I shouldve sheetrocked my Garage before the shelves went up, but opted for the cheaper and quicker 1/4" paneling. I still may paint it white, It would be a lot brighter.

I got lucky, and the builder drywalled it, and finished the drywall. All I had to do was paint. The drywall finishing isn't perfect, and it shows now that it is painted!

Again, just like a car or truck!

It looks good enough for me though.

And you are right, the paint really made it brighter. Big difference!

I'll take some pics later however I have to apologise for the mess ahead of time. We have been swamped around here and I have not stopped my apprentice to make him clean up his mess (he's been making me money instead :D )

I put a temp office on the side of my building so I could open up a 3rd bay. The temp help I hired to help with the move made a huge mess in my poker room (moved stored parts and paperwork into there) and I have never gotten to cleaning it back out. I'll probably use the next long weekend to do it (if I finish my truck by then)

Bump....Rainman, I never saw the new pics! Man you are one lucky guy. Gotta be at least 5 mil worth of boats, busses and building there!

I guess we're all lucky for the fact that we are the only six guys with a workspace out of 67,000 members!

Yeah I know, it seems I work on improving my garage and making it more efficient more than actually work on my projects. I have a big problem with putting stuff back where it belongs after a big job. Its usually late at night and I just let em sit. It sucks because everything I own has a place.....

roof leaking?
Yeah, it's an old shop, but it's not as bad as it looks. The people I rent from need to go up and repair the roof. We have had 45+ inches of rain this year, which made a few more leak spots pop up, but nothing leaks in the important areas, like over my 91's chassis.

I would have to have Demonstalker post up some pics of his garage....cause that is pretty much my workspace. Whenever i have to do anything it is over at his place. Living in an apartment kind of sucks on the whole workspace thing.

Right now i live in an apartment which sucks so i dont have any work space here but I work at a Mack Trucks Dealership where I have a very large shop that I can use...( service pits are nice.) And back home I have a 20x30ft shop to use, the only problem is my 70 GMC doesnt fit in the shop at home. :-( so that one only gets worked on outside.
