I have a 97 silverado ext. cab shortbed. All my friends and people keep telling me to lift it, but the problem is, I didnt buy one with 4wd (wtf was I thinking, huh!). The only cool thing I can think of, is July 4th when I was in Pismo Dunes, CA in my friends 96 tahoe 4x4, I saw a truck exactly like mine (except like a 92) running 2wd and a decent lift and tires and did pretty well in the sand! Impressed me well! I already put in a richmond 4.10:1 gear with limited slip differential in the rear b/c I blew it up doing burnouts. :cussing: :dunce: :head: Anyway, what are the options on lifting a 2wd? Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

I don't know much about 2wd lifts, but I do know that one of the most popular 2wd lifts that are used on alot of pre-runner trucks out in CA. is a company called Fabtech. Hope this helps.

If you want a lift for street driving look at the Fabtech or CST upper arm and spindle kits. If you want to be able to have fun in the sand or off-road you will need more than just a regular Fabtech or CST kit. For 1988-1998 Chevy 2wd lifts you are pretty limited unless your budget isn't.

http://www.kartek.com/truck/88-98c1500/c1500suspension.html - same kit as above but different picture.
http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/html/chevyc150025003500.html - the Fabtech long travel kit is so-so - works much better with a Bilstein or any other performance shock.

If you have any 2wd questions e-mail me - jeff@performancelifts.com

dude lift the 2wd! here in California thats all you need. theres not much mud anywhere. so you can setup a 2wd for high speed sand running.

lemme know what you want and ill try to help you with everything.

your looking in the wrong places if you cant find mudd.....

i think you can do pretty good at pismo or n e dunes with 2wd and l/s if you deflate enough. if we can offroad a 2wd school buss at pismo, then im sure you will be fine. goodluck on choosing a lift.

Thanks all, I guess I wont be wheelin this truck hard anyway, dont need to break more stuff. Ill look into prices of lifts. Cheaper to lift it than buy some dubs anyway =P My friend just got his dubs back yesterday and they were so clean I went right up to them and started touching. After he was done kicking my ass, he told me to lift my truck =P

im in los angeles, there is always mudd in azzuza year round. thats my main mud source, but once it rains, sand canyon, and gorman have some mudd. there are a few other palces down south near san diego that have alot of mudd, but i forgot what the place is called, my friend knows though.
