View Full Version : Intake manifold: coolant block-off?

So, last week a coolant fitting broke off inside the rear part of my intake manifold . Anyway, I swapped it this weekend with the edlebrock performer, and something I noticed about my stock intake was that the rear coolant passage was blocked off on both sides of the manifold. Is there a reason it came like this? And should I have blocked them off on the new manifold?
Thanks for any ideas.

it should not have been fully blocked off there should be a hole in both sides of the gasket about the size of an earser...it so the coolant can build up pressure and help take the heat away....now if i am wrong and your intake manifold it self had them blocked off then i am totally clueless....

I'll try to take a pic of it.
No one else has swapped manifolds?

i had that same fitting break off in my manifold last year. Had to do the same thing. maybe we should all start switching those fittings out pro-actively. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to buy a $10-$15 fitting than a $300 intake manifold. It's also alot easier.
