Gentlemen (and ladies),

First time poster here so go easy on me!

I just put a money order in the mail to purchase a tuned PCM from Wait4me Performance.

In talking with Jesse on the phone earlier this morning, he mentioned that after I install the new PCM, I should have a "relearning" test performed for the crank. I understand what the test accomplishes, but what I don't understand is WHERE I can get this test done (my local mechanic at the NAPA dealer can't do it), and what can I expect to pay to have this done? Another mechanic? A dealer?

Jesse said that I will notice a change immediately, but this test will optimize the tune.

Just for the heck of it, what happens if I don't get the test preformed?

I think your in the wrong forum if you have a vortec engine.

Ok, fair enough. The subject line of the forum included PCM tunes, which is what I'm asking about. Which forum should I be in?

(I see it did no good to ask for patience!)

Post in the plain performance section not this sub forum. This is for TBI engines.

Here's a local thread which describes what you're looking for:

96+ are Vortec Engines, which are no longer classified as "TBI", because they are nothing like it they run multiport injection. :read:

If you want to cry about my valid suggestion, help yourself.

We also wrote an article about Crank Relearn, please see http://www.trifectaperformance.com/tech/crankrelearn.htm

Crank relearn is not an issue with our programming since we send you a hand-held programmer on a loaner basis to program the PCM rather then swapping the PCM out.
