I am new to truck modding and am posting in this section because I'd like to lower a 4x4. As of right now, I'm not specifically looking for how to do it, but things to take into consideration, and hopefully one day be bagged. I am curious about pinion angles of rear drive shafts and half shafts up front. Does the extra weight of the transfer case cause a problem? I live in an area which is cold in the winter, so how does one deal with compressing air and freezing valves?

I've read through other threads and have already gotten great info. I have more questions as this seems like an awesome thing to do.

Thanks for all the help.

if you go lowered, then you will want to bag it.........
for me I drop the truck last year right around may it was done.
then aug, at Envy Frenzy show, saw the red tahoe all the way down rocker bagged(he now has the 2004 frontend on it, that thing is beasuty) I staired that tahoe for 2 days of show, talk to the guy, he gave me info, and went search around the net how to bag the 4wd... then found this forum, got info then next off to lowrider forum. then bam! found the guy that does bag on these and I saved up $ and got it bagged....

if you are considering bag your truck, then save the $ and bag it.. you can do it with functional 4wd or make it 2wd.
I'll be able to take more pics etc and gave you all the info if needed.

I am also interested in the question about how air bags work in the cold as I am from the same state as you. I have not had alot of luck finding info on that question. I have been thinking of buying a brand new chev or gmc 1/2 ton crew cab 4x4 and air bagging it so it will lay the frame on the ground but have not been able to find any info if it is possible. I would still like to use the truck for hualing my 4-wheeler and golf cart weather it is in the bed or on a trailer and no one seems to be able to answer the question weather I would have any problems doing it. I would like to use mine as a daily driver and taking stuff to the cabin and on 4-wheeler trips.

Well this is the thread.
http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/general-discussion/street/4x4-street/179591-4x4-lowered-bagged-owners-check.html
you can keep the front axle and bag it' bag has to be on top of the UCA. that's all.
since my 4wd never worked(fixed) and never used 4wd, so I went with removing half shaft off.
and mine is daily also.
rear setup is same as any 2wd. front just need to setup differently that's all.

if you want more pics, check on lowrider forums, one I found info is layitlow.com there are some pics of newer 4wd bagged, including 07's.
