Ok, Transmissions have never been my speciality...they fall in the same catagory as HVAC on a truck....but anyhow.... I need tranny work done! My shift points are terrible. When I go to get on it, the truck stays in whatever gear its in, and just chugs along, almost never downshifting...when it does downshift, its awesome. So, i'm pretty new to tranny tuning, so please, bare with me. Would a programer fix this problem? Or would getting a shift kit help me out? If I go with a shift kit, i would go with this purchase:
TRG-SK4L60E TRANSGO GM 1993-UP 4L60E SHIFT KIT
NTP-K51828C Corvette Servo kit for the 700-R4
and4L60e Transmissions
SNX-77987-01K SONNAX 4L60E PINLESS FORWARD ACCUMULATOR
TRG-46-PLT-96 TRANSGO GM 1996-ON 4L60E SEPARATOR PLATE
My setup is a 2000 Z71 5.3, with 104k...Running 315's on stock rims (for now....soon to have 9" with 35's).
So my question is, doing this shift kit be better than the programmer? I plan also to get the preditor programmer just for the engine performance and tire size correction.
And roughly, how much is to much to pay for labor for all this tp be put in?
thank you

and would it be benifical to get around 35%-45% of my Torque Management removed? Or would that Toast my tranny?

Get a shift kit to correct the shifts so they shift quick and firm(not slow and sloppy) and downshifts a lot better. get the tune for whatever shifting rpms that you want and torque management removed completely or just most of it. IMO you need both to get exactly what you want.
It will take a couple of retunes to get it where you want it, at least for me it did.

My transmission has been giving me problems here as of late, and I had it at a transmission shop the other day, and long story short i asked what the cost was to have shift kit & servo installed and the response was $300. Hey NEUMANNZZ was the install pretty cut and dry if you know what I mean? I see where the Transgo HD2 kit, but is there another kit that is basically like that or should I only be looking at that one for my 2000 Z71? I asked the shop the other day about the separator plate & aluminum accumalator or what ever it is, and he advise me to only do the shift kit & the servo the other accessories in his opinion are not really a necessity, but could be change if desired. So basically after purchasing a kit, servo, fluid, filter and what ever else you are talking about $150 and change is that correct? So if that is right is the install once again cut and dry to where saving say $150 is worth a couple of hours underneath the rig for a weekend?

not sure if its more difficult installing the kit and servo on a 4x4. they have different kits. the reprogramming kit, the hd 2 and the stage 3. IMO get the hd kit. it has the most bang for the buck. view this thread:http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/general-discussion/performance/transmission-tuning/278868-installing-transgo-kit-anything-else-i-should-consider.html
