kickpanel rust repair

looking to replace the kick panels on my 85. it has cancer at the bottom and it bubbling halfway up. i was going to cut it out and weld in a new peice. anyone have an idea what gauge sheet metal i should use? or the best way of doing this

I believe LMC Truck sells replacement weld in panels. www.lmctruck.com I used to get their catalogs all the time.

they dont offer this panel though. i called and asked. i was just wondering what gauge metal i should use. i know how to weld just not sure what metal gauges and stuff like that
