SS_355_Stripes 08-13-2007, 09:53 PM mines at about 8 advanced slammins15 08-13-2007, 09:55 PM Mine is 0 with EST disconnected. Tbi-MAX 08-14-2007, 07:15 AM if im correct, they run better with like 4-6 with est unhooked, then rehook it... i know mine spun hella tires that way.. 93ChevyTBI 08-14-2007, 09:40 AM mine is set at zero. Interesting topic....are you guys advancing it just at the dizzy or are you running custom chips AND advancing at the dizzy? Wouldn't that be redundant? Shouldn't the tune do the advancing? Tbi-MAX 08-14-2007, 10:02 AM yes it is a good informative topic. what ever you advance with the est unplug, the pcm will add that to what it is tuned for... so if its adv 8 it will add 8 to your pcm timing, so if thats 20, it will not be 28 total timing. should the tune do the advancing? yea, but all of it, im not sure... someone will chime in with more info. my stroker wouldnt even start with my timing no less than 6 degrees.. and it likes it about 20 degrees. but i have not yet start tuning the pcm... im sure it will like even more timing and fuel once i get into the pcm and see whats going on and where i make power.. YenkoST 08-14-2007, 10:18 AM The chips have a constant inside of them that lets the computer know how much 'base' timing you are running with the EST disconnect. For example, if your chip stock chip has 6* for the 'base' constant EST unplugged and in the main SA table it says 20* for that cell, means that your computer is adding 14* of timing to make the 20*. So, base + computer timing added = main SA table...basically. I have my engine running at 8* by the dist. and EST disconnected with a total timing at idle being 23*. So, the computer is adding 15 * of timing to make the 23* at idle. Most add timing WITHOUT a custom chip. A tuner will added timing by the main SA table. If you don't tell the tuner that you raised the 'base' timing, then spark knock is more likely to occur. vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
