ok im not much in the audio thing but i got 2 12' kicker comps for $20 new in the original boxes. and tought why not put them in the new truck and give it a audio upgrade.looking around this site 12"s are to big cuz i dont want a box that comes pass the seats. so i was thinking of this http://caraudiofactory.com/2007-chevy-silverado-extended-body-style-p-200.html but its only for 10" subs, so i was thinking of going to a shop and trading them for so 10"s. and also somone told me that the kicker comps dont work good in a small box?

first, i dont know of a shop that allows trade ins on product not bought from them. take a measuring tape and measure from the base of the floor out to where the seat ends.. is there 12" or more. if so, you should be able to have a custom box made assuming airspace will be correct and depth isnt a concern. i havent measured out a nds truck yet so dont know. report back with your findings.

ive always felt kicker subs sounded "better" in larger boxes.

yea i was in there and 12"or more but its the depth thats not good, i was thinking of rising the seats but is that to much trouble? would i be better off trading them for 10"s somewhere? and going with that box? whats a down firing system? is that where the sub is seald in the box facing down? thats what it sounds like.

well if 12's wont fit but 10's do then trade them. downfire is exactly what you said. tend to work well in trucks but you have to make sure you have enough area for the speaker to play into. like that box you posted blocks the subs exit from the front, and prolly from the rear, leaving the sides. the middle of the box looks like it hugs the floorboard so that basically means your 10's are playing into prolly 2" of airspace infront of them, but trying to push the sound out the ends of the box. obviously you will still get bass but are prolly sacrificing some.

raising the seat, building a custom downfire box that allows to place the sub as far up as you can go, and then designing a better "exit route" for the subs would be my suggestion.
