ight guys finally finished installing my crewcab system. Definately under a budget and it is by far the best cc system I have ever heard. 2 Elemental designs 11kv 10" dual 4 ohm subs wired at 1 ohm, and in a 2.12 cuft ported at 35hz. I am running (dont laugh) A crunch audio amp pzi 1000.1 ....which in all retrospect is the same as hifonics (all made by maxsonics.) I ran it all of my stock hu. when sitting in the front seat, the systems sounds great.....great respons time, clean smooth hitting bass. Its not the loudest out there, but can definately get pretty loud. In the back seat, its another story. We removed the carpet and everything else off the back wall, so its like bare metal. My whole back of my cab rattles and it sounds like ****. In a crewcab, the back wall is like hollow. I have a friend who has a crewcab and had a system, he covered the whole back wall in dynamat and it did nothign. So what im wondering is what can I do to fill that cavity...spray foam? Any other crewcab guys run into this?

When you talk in ellipses it isn't easy to understand. Please don't.
A picture of the cavity would help, as I am not sure what you are trying to describe.

Why did you remove the carpet?
I have two 12" behind my seat and they sound great anywhere in the truck with no rattle noticeable on the outside...and I haven't even installed the raamat yet. The only rattle I can hear is in the doors.
I'm assuming you removed the vents?
I have an 05 Z71 CC. Pretty much the same truck.
Maybe yours are just that much louder and hit harder than mine!

All his metal is exposed, yours has some mass on it already (ie the carpet and stock pad) which really helps. Either way deadening really goes a long way in keeping your ears happy.

The reason I removed the carpet is to gain more airspace. I wanted to run a couple of nice sq 10's, and have a ported box in hopes to get the perfect sql system. Well as far as upfront goes it sounds amazing. The back wall definately needs some attention. I just dont know if the carpet would fit back there. That stuff is easily .5 inch thick with the padding. Pulling the box would suck, but I could always do it, put my carpet back there and see if it would fit. Either way I will have to pull the box to fix the problem. I will work on getting some pics up here in a sec

notice i had to trim the plastic

This is with me pulling the plastic piece away from the back wall. you can see the cavity that is there to hook child seats into. At the top its about 2 inches deep, as it goes down towards the floor of the truck, it gets shallower.
Im getting the impression that the best thing I can do for the money is just to put my carpet back in (if It will work) and if that doesnt take care of it, a good layer of dynamat.

looking at that i would say expanding foam would work well. then a layer of mat overtop the outer shell

Or a couple layers. More never hurts. I'd personally try and put the carpet and factury juut back as well.

Just for clarification for others reading this post, just because an amp is manufactured by the same company does not mean it is similar at all. Changing a couple key components can save a lot of money on a design and end up with a very unstable and not so nice amplifier. In reality most amps are outsourced to a very few companies that manufacture them. Different brands have differently build qualities even within buildhouses and can be hugely different. In this case, considering Hifonics is a very budget geared brand I am very skeptical of any of their subcompanies products. Even if they use the same components, they will regularly change their ratings. Getting into the manufacturer and going by that as a buying decision is not something I would recommend.

What I did with mine was one layer of mat followed by a nice coating of spray...also do the back of the plastic panel. Looks as if you box is just sitting in there...is it mounted to anything?? if not doing that will make a difference.

its not bolted or secure to anything, and it should be, its a tight fit though so its not moving, really a whole new box will be built by me in a few months, we rushed to get this system in cause chevyman left for college today and staying in a apartment he really cant fab up stuff
the crunch did what he wanted, but i still wouldnt get the amp if it was me
I would like to do yalls suggestions about layers, but the box was made so big i dont know if it will fit if a couple layers of mat are behind it

You can fill that space with Great Stuff. An expanding foam sold at home depot (red can/yellow top). I filled my panel there as well as my framing in my cab. Here's a pic of it in my roof frame:

The first 2 months at A&M, I had 8 tickets, 4 warnings and had been towed by transportation services.

Honestly, besides the money (duh), the worst part was that they kept calling my pewter Silverado "GOLD". :bash:
