this is a stupid question but will remote start work even if you dont have power locks???

the one i was looking at had keyless lock/unlock, will it unlock and lock

i don't get what your asking.

If it has the keyless lock and unlock then obviously yes it will.

but if the vehicle doesn't have the hardware to lock and unlock the doors it won't. The wires will just not be hooked up, it won't interfere with the starting of it

The only way it won't work is if you are looking at a vehicle with manual only locks...not that I have seen one of those lately. Power locks are a pre-requisite for keyless, but the starter is completely independent.

well ya my truck has manual locks (way to good of a price to pass) so if i got a remote start with keyless entry, i could just not hook up the keyless entry and just use the remote start

Not terribly. If you have a good knowledge of electrical wiring and a little patience, you can do it. It does take awhile to do it the right way. You can find the wiring color codes online for your specific vehicle.

With 2 $20-$30 lock motors, you could give yourself keyless entry with that remote start/keyless kit...

they have all the info you need. they also show some diagrams on how to add door lock acuators.
