i'm changing my interior color from red to graphite-- i want to change my seatbelts to black---anybody done something like this with success-- by that i mean it doesnt fade onto your clothes and ruin them-- dont really want to get a bunch of sharpies and do it :whatever:

thanks

Go to a junkyard and find some charcoal/black colored ones and switch them with yours... as for dying them or w/e, I have no clue about that. :dunno:

Joseph.
I would NEVER EVER buy used seat belts to use. You never know if they have already been in a collision and the integrity has been compromised :read:

Buy new belts or get yours dyed

I've seen tags on seat belts warning not to dye them.

I had a set on a car that were frayed real bad. An ulpholstry shop put new webbing in them for me. You could do that with black and paint the plastic.

did somethin simular on my suburban.painted the light grey carpet on the bottom of the door panel with a black vynil spray paint from the auto parts.

just masked the area off and did all the door panels that way then switched the cars carpet to a matching black.panels came out decent and seatbelts shouldnt be much harder.

havent experienced any fading but then again i rarely touch the bottom of the door panels.i might consider doing the seatbelts someday but then again im preatty sure they already sell them in black from factory?

i used some sem paint to redo my whole interior and it works excellent. you can paint carpet,vinyl,velour,plastic,etc... my seatbelts were supposed to be blue but over the years the sun faded them to a kinda blue/green color but when i painted them with the sem paint they look new again. i will post up some pics when i get to my other computer.

Yeah the SEM products work really good on that kind of stuff. I have used them on dashes and such and work great. They have alot of colors to choose from and wide range of products. Give them a try. You can usually pick them up at your local O'reileys. Good luck and post pics when you get it done!
