what are the dimensions of one of these?
i'm considering ditching the K&N FIPK on my 92(for it to go on my 93, and the 454 it was meant for) in favor of an open element. i'd like to see about putting a powercharger under the open element. is a 14" open element big enough? and how tall is the powercharger?

I made mine from a mixing bowl from Wal-Mart. Total height was about 4 inches, and a 14" air cleaner is big enough.

again, i dont want to make one out of a salad bowl. i want to purchase one, and would like to know the dimensions of it before i purchase.
or hell, maybe i should do the salad bowl, and maybe a ladel shifter handle to go with it. do you think i could rig some salad tongs as window crank handles too?

For reference, I had a 14x4" K&N open air filter assembly and the Powercharger did not sit on the base flush I had to go back to the stock spacer. Oh, I used a 9/16" drop base as well.

i've been planning on using a flat base. so the 14" dia is big enough?

Well, on my drop base...it wasn't....you will need a 5 1/8" opening for the base FYI in case you didn't know. I have a friend with a flat base...I can look at it and let you know what I think about it tomorrow if you would like.
