Well I just bought a regular cab long bed 2wd 2500 chevy with a 6.0L and 4l80E that came with 107K miles.

The deal is during the 10-15 minute test drive (cold) the truck never gave me any problems and shifted great.

I get it home and first drive going to dinner the trans reaches about 140 and hangs around there then goes to 150 and mostly stayed in that area but i did see it go higher afer 20 min of city driving.

During one of my turns at a low speed it felt like a tire slipped and grabbed, rear ended yada yada. I THINK it was the 1-2 shift.

later on the truck did it again between 1-2 i think under light throttle.

Now the truck does have 107k on it and didn't have a really easy life.

Also it seems like I have a slight dead spot, hesitation from a dead stop trying to lightly hit the gas.

Where do i start?

Transgo shift kit?
shift soleniods?
Tconverter?
Bad trans?
Live with it?

Help! thanks!

with the dead spot you may want to see if the TPS is glitching out if it has a manaul throttle.

went to aamco transmission they put a scanner on it and drove it for 10-20 min said he only got it to do it once and didn't really see a problem yet.

The checked line pressure, tested fluid, checked codes (non) and just looked over everything they could over a hour period.

They said its fine just drive it unless it gets worse and they said they thought it could be that it needs plugs wires (little rough idle and hesistation) but said it was POSSIBLE it was TPS but doesn't have a code to back it up, and said a transgo kit for those would do wonders. ,,

thanks again

What temp should this trans run at?

Transmission is howling into second gear not, usually on the first shift after i start driving it.. then by the second or third time going into 2nd it slams into gear.

When I had my 4L60E rebuilt I was told about a problem like that. The guy was a GM tranny technician and he said it is a valve body problem.

alright had to to the second trans shop that i really trust and has done some high end 4l60E's sitting behind stupid amounts of power on a built turbo ty motor in my s10..

He drove it awhile, scanned it went over everything. Said he only faintly heard the noise and wasen't sure what was going on. He told me to run it until the problem was bigger and more consistant to where i could reproduce it. I was told the same for the most part by my trans parts guy Probuilt in cali. and also by David at transgo who also told me not to shift kit it period till i figure out what was wrong.

So it howls into second gear, if i'm going up a hill I can drag out the noise making it go for like 2-3 seconds under light throttle.

Also the slamming into gear seems to be after pulling forward slow and or stopping (such as parking lot going to road or pulling up in a turn lane then pulling out) and it almost feels like it drops outta gear (but doesn't rev up) and then SLAMS into 2nd. Did it like 3 times in a row tonight and then not again all night.

Any ideas...
