I have a question. I got a 1995 Chevy C-1500 5.0L V-8. I have Flowtech Shorty Headers on there and I fail emissions worse then anyone. Does anyone know some headers that would help me pass emissions and still get good performance?

first off, put your regular exhaust manifolds back on then go test, after a pass, put headers back on

What part of the test did you fail? the print out should be able to tell you where you fall compared to federal regulations.

First of all I lost my stock ones and second I have a custom y-pipe and catback so they wouldn't fit. Any other suggestions? At 2500 rpm test my CO% is 7.81 and supposed to be 1.20, and my HC is 261 and supposed to be 220. At idle my CO% is 7.07 and its supposed to be 1.20, and my HC are 710 and supposed to be 220.

Do you have all proper emissions items that came from the factory? like A.I.R, EGR & Cats if equipped?

FYI shorty headers are the same length as the stock manifolds.....like others started, get a print out

Im also curious as to why you have to do testing because in 07 the government passed a new law at all vehicles 95 and older will no longer be tested for emissions unless not tested yet in 06 or failed in 06 and need a re-test. So if you can get it to pass this time you might be in the clear permently from emmissions.

When did this law pass?
This is news to me

Im sorry my info was wrong... This was only for the state of IL. I thought it was a federal thing but i guess not. Sorry for the mis-information.
