I'm new to this forum and have a 97 Silverado w/ a 350.

It leaks some coolant and while im replacing the water pump i might as put a cam shaft in it..and while im doing that i might as well do the head gaskets and lifters...etc. so i decided to build a 383 for it.

How exactly do i do this with the computer/fuel injection? Will it go berserk with the different air/fuel parameters? Will it just need larger injectors? I don't want to get into a wiring hodge podge computer nightmare as I'll only be in school for another month so time/efficiency is of utmost importance. Are there any proven combinations for these trucks? I'm looking to spend at most $2,000 to get this thing in the low 14's or high 13's and keep it streetable and also reliable as some times my mom uses it for mulch. : )

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

you'd be hard pressed to do all that for $2000...go with a wet N2O system

i have a 96 silverado with the L31 5.7l. a cam for your truck is a good idea, but like the other guys say.....go with a 100 shot of Nitrous, a good CAI, a superchips prgrammer or a Nelson, westers or wait4me tune, and a good set of gears and maybe some headers. that could be about $2000 there. tune form nelson for these trucks is $250, CAI is about $300, NOS kit is about $600, cam springs and lifters is about $500, gears about $250-300. that should be about a 13 second truck maybe even 12's who knows, and you could still be streetable. my truck just has exhaust right now, im waitin on all my parts to put em all on. but i hope this was helpful, oh and mine is a SWB standard cab its run fastest of 9:52 in 1/8. so pm me if you have any questions man.
