Just as the title says, I want to know if the GM 383 will toast my 4L60E? I just got a BRAND new trany installed at 150k miles and then my 350 takes a dump. So seeing that it is new transmisison, will the tranny hold up to the new power? Thanks

What are all the internals in your tranny? ie: clutches, steel, etc?

All internals are 100% stock with whatever it came with, no modifications

Get a Transgo HD2 kit right now and install it.
Buy it from www.700r4l60e.com and talk to Dana there to get the proper installation instructions for your application.

I agree.....put a tranny cooler on it if you don't have one, add a shift kit (transgo) and a 4th gear billet servo. Then if the 1-2 shift at like you want...you can add a corvette servo or billet 1-2 servo. A .500 boost valve would be a good idea as well if it doesn't come in a kit...just helps with line pressure.

No sure what the GM 383 is rated for. Guessing ~400 ish off the flywheel. In any case, if you want things to last longer, keep everything stock. But, who wants stock. How about the rear diff? It goes on and on. That's what hot rodding is all about, Isn't it? IMO. Stuff the 383 in, then find out where is the weak link.

HT383E CID V8. This engine produces 340 hp and 435 ft-lbs of torque
and X2

I can tell you by experience that you will destroy it with a healthy 383. I trashed 2 before I built a super box. The hard parts are stamped and can't stand up to the torque. In all fairness I was am dragging around a 5300 lb van.
My understanding is the 4L80 (like the TH400) takes more power to turn and you will lose speed and mpg. I've never run a TH400 but know they make parts for them to lighten up the internals to reduce power loss (IIRC its a 20hp difference). Do they make parts like that for the 4L80's? If I were to consider an 80 swap, I'd like to avoid loss in speed and mpg.

Like said add the 1-2 and 4 gear servos. A trans-go shift kit, a s10 converter and bigger cooler. You will not have any issues with that engine.
