What's up? My 1994 4x4 truck sputtered on the second lane about 11:oo am on a busy street, had to wait to back it up to the shoulder lucky I was on a hill. I checked the fuel filter and it was good (just installed it a month earlier). Could not figure it out thought it was the fuel pump 280,000 miles not bad for second. So I had it towed $75.00. I could not find my code reader at the time so I chanced it and replaced the fuel pump ($50.00) BUT did not change the old wires I think I should have, tried to start the truck no luck will start with gas in TBI but shut off. So I borrowed my sisters code reader and read: Fuel Pump Relay, replaced for $15.00 total $140.00 now. Still would not start so I checked the fuel lines next to the fuel filter and no fuel after starting it. Well that's were I am at and I will start again in the morning. Any answers please let me know. P.S. I like and will cut the top of the bed for faster sevice. I once had a Datsun pick-up way back that was factory cut pretty cool and easy.

Check the oil pressure switch.

Which engine / model ?
Like 99-2door said check the oil presure switch and the connections to it.
The fuel relay would not have been your problem when driving down the road because it normally turns off way before that.
On your DLC under the dash, "G" can be fed 12v to turn on pump to prime before starting.
When the oil pressure is above about 5 lbs it should already be showing 12v.
You can check that by cranking to raise oil pressure but don't crank to long.
Have you checked the pump fuse mounted near the relay ?
Check also that you have good wire from that fuse back to the PCM because otherwise
the PCM will think your pump is not working and wil try to shut down.

Found the problem. I wanted to make sure that all wires were on secure when I put the gas tank back in so I unbolted the bed, wires and filler hose. Had a freind help me and moved it back about two feet and wala, it was my ground wire snapped so I crimped it back new. I turned the key came on. So back track and check everything. P.S. Moving the bed was better than lower the tank. Thanks

The small stuff can drive you nuts, but it's the most common.
