So what is it that makes the transgo kits so much better than say the B&M kits? This would be on a 4L60E by the way...

A lot more work has been put into making the transgo kit what it is. I have installed 3 of them and they work really well. If you plan on putting one in your truck, I would go Conservative with the shift settings or it will snap your neck on the 1-2 shift. I would also recommend Sonnax pinless forward accumulator, pinless 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator pistons. I just put this same setup in my brother in laws WS6 Trans Am. It works real nice.

it seems kinda confusing to me when it says it will hold 1st 2nd and 3rd for as long as i want? and how hard would it be for me to install? I'm 16 and have no transmission experience at all, im pretty good with some things but how good is the video that comes with it?

What you do is lift your vehicle up on jackstands and unbolt the base pan for the tranny. make sure you have something to catch all the fluid coming out cuz it is very messy. than you will see the valve body that is the mechanical control center of your shifts, etc. you take out the filter and unbolt the valve body. make sure you don't flip it over or knock it on it's side cuz it has little ball bearings in certain holes that will fall out.

Than put the valve body down on a table or large, easy to work on surface and get out the instructions from the kit. the instruction will go into detail about repositioning the valve bodies and the rest of the install. It's a bit too hard to explain that part without instructions or the part in front of me, but I hear their instructions are written quite well.

Than it's a matter of putting on a new gasket (supplied, i think) bolting the valve body back on and putting in a new filter and tightening the pan back on to it's recommended torque specs/pattern.

I know i might not explain it that well, but it is pretty easy once you get the hang of it, but it seems pretty daunting at first. Good Luck.

make sure wherever you're working on it at is very CLEAN, also. You don't want no loose dirt or ANYthing getting in there.

:word: thats a big no-no, you wouldn't want even sand in there working it's magic in all the fluid and all over the clutch bands and...it would suck. I like to lay it out on a white or light colored cloth or towel (minimal lint and a smooth surface are optimal) so that you can clearly see everything and no lint can get stuck on or trapped in anything.

No problem. The auto tranny and axles/diffs are conceived to be overly complex until you do them yourself. they both just require organization when removing and installing parts, and patience. the worst thing you can do is rush and screw something up. just take your time and do it step by step. if you have any questions, post em up.

is there any drilling involved for this kit like the B&M?

yes you drill the seperator plate holes bigger.

Make sure that you only use lint free clothes or towels when wiping the valve body off or any components. Even a piece of lint can stick one of the valves in the valve body.

if you get the kit you might as well spend the extra money and get the new separater plate I think mine was 15 bucks that way you don't have to drill out the old one it's already done.
I re-read the instructions several times before I did my install I havn't used a shift kit in 20 yrs so I wanted to make sure I knew where every part went I also marked all the bags of parts as to where each one went and what color I was supposed to use.
one other word of advise clean up the surrounding floor where you are going to work on the valve body that way when one of the ball bearings or springs rolls off onto the floor you can find it easier that the hour I spent searching the garage floor looking for a spring that rolled off the table
