Could a ZX 750x1 cause me to fry mutiple alts over the past month? So far I have gone though four alts in the past month and no one can tell me why, could it be my amp?

Have you tried disconnection the amp and seeing if you still fry the alt? I would find it hard that an amp would fry an alternator as a lot of us would have cooked our stockers a long time ago. Did you install it? If someone else did it, they probably did it wrong. Have it looked at by a professional, it sounds like it's not getting connected right or that the regulator/isolator is not correct.

How about your regulator?

Ok installed what the amp or alt? And the regulator on my truck should be computerised right? And BTW on this last alt I have not turned my radio on and the alt is still getting very hot like so hot it is melting the sticker off the alt! And I am with you I see it very unlikely that its the amp cause as you said I know alot of people with more amp than me and they are still using stock alts?

Sounds to me like you have something grounding it out or pulling a huge load.

I think you need to dig deeper before giving up. First, is the voltage regulator functioning? Sure, it may be computerized but so is a CNC machine. It still has to be checked for accuracy and calibrated if it isn't working. What kind of alt is it? Are you sure it's putting out the correct voltage? Is the alt installed correctly? Where do the wires off the alternator go? Is the alternator faulty on the inside? Still way too many variables for a lot of us to just say "Your problem is X and you need to do Y to fix it"

I relise this and most of this has been checked! I don't really need a lecture about that kind of stuff as that is not what I came on here looking for. I am going to try a different brand alt today and recheck all my ground wires and power wires for problems and I am in the process of trying to get ahold of Jessie to see if my wait4me tuner could be the problem. I am not asking anyone to tell me that is problem x or y I am just asking for generic suggestions to make sure there is nothing I have over looked or not thought about!
