The automatic transmission in my '97 2wd c1500 pickup has always slipped a bit. Had the transmission overhauled a few years back to resolve the notorious 1st - 2nd hard shift condition that surfaced at about 50,000 miles. Even with that, the transmission has always had a slight slip. In searching online I found the poor ground VCM update for '96 4l60e's (16244210). My question is, does anyone know if my VCM Serv # 16229684 includes the jumper to resolve the poor ground issue?

Thanks, Jim

Thanks for info....that's a great document! I still can't figure out if my VCM Serv # 16229684, includes the 16244210 srvice or not...or if the poor ground problem effects 97's as well as 96's for which the TSB was written.
Thanks again!

if the grounding issue checks okay I would recommend a shift kit and vette servo to get rid of the sloppy shifts. A Transgo shift kit corrects known deficiencies in the valve body, applies more holding pressure and firms/quickens up the shifting.
