Alright, sorry for the somewhat long post..... The other day my transmission took a dump, I'm almost positive its the tourque converter, it seems like it fell apart and is just free wheeling since its making a lot of noise. My question is i have a chance to pick up a fully built 4L60E for 600 bucks. The transmission is completley rebuilt right down to the plugs for the harnesses. From what i understand GM built 2 4L60E trannys, a one piece bellhousing or 2 piece. As of right now my truck isn't at my house so I can't crawl underneath it and look to see if it has a 2 piece bellhousing or a one. The truck was built in 1/97, and supposedly if the truck is a later 97 it won't have a 2 piece bellhousing or vice versa. Does anyone know what tranny my truck has? Or do i need more info like a vin number or whatnot.. Like i said, if it was here i'd be able to look and see but i want to know soon so i can e-mail this guy and let him know if i'll take the tranny. Thanks for all the help!

I thought all the Vortec motor trucks had one piece bell housings.

I agree...factory sunshells are junk.
Replace it with the beast:)

I have a 94 Z-71, it has the one piece case, and a 97 GMC Jimmy that has the two piece. I would go look also.
