What size trans cooler should be used? This is for my friends 98 1500 5.7/4L60. He pulls a ski boat and the truck has lots of bolt on performance mods.

I was looking at the B&M super coolers. They sound nice and the price is not bad but they offer many sizes. Should we just get the biggest one they make?

Thanks in advance.

This is what I am running. Trans temp stays around 150.

I have the same one as 94Blazer above...it is big, and cools great!

You will not be short on cooling with this unit.

Lol! That's two trany coolers in parrallel with eachother via a small balancing plenum and in series with the 'intank' cooler.

if you dont mind me askin how much did this set up run you??? my 97 2wd with 9 inches of lift and 35s shifts hard out of first when the tranny gets hot and i am pretty certain a bigger cooler will make it stop cause when its cold or cool outside it never does it....what do you think??

If you're talking about mine...about $50.
I made most of the stuff and the hoses were supplied free.
If I had to buy it all....$300-$400.
You can get a single one like that listed above for a pretty good price.

I put B&M's biggest cooler on my old 79 with a built 200-4R and 2400rpm stall. Not sure the exact size but it came with 1/2" fittings. Temp never got above 165* even in 110* gridlock phoenix traffic for 2hrs.

Could the stock transmission lines be used directly to the cooler? What size are the lines? I have a lot of room between the radiator and the grill so that's not a problem.

I think the lines are around 3/8" and yes...you can use the stock lines...as long as you can make them reach.
