I want to spend $500-600 on speakers only. Hopefully I dont have to replace to deck
I have this deck:

I have a 2000 extended cab. I want to replace the front speakers, subs in the back, and install sound deadning material. I dont know much about installing sound systems but I will try to do as much as I can by myself.

you gotta let these guys know your listening preferences an what kinda sound you are looking far, then they can give you a complete setup.

I really dont want to get component because they have to be custom installed and I plan on getting a new truck within the next year so it wouldnt really be worth it.
Subs are really important to me. I dont want a half ass system. If I have to spend a little more to get something that sounds good I will.

not really much custom involved in components. most 6.5 drop right in, at worst you build a thin baffle. you should definitely be looking into amping the front components if you are adding subs. if you dont want too much bass you could possibly find a decent 4ch amp and run it in 3ch mode and power the front comps and subs, provided the subs arent power hungry.
that would keep the cost down but $500-600 aint a whole lot for subs, fronts, amp, and deadening.

get some cheap tweeters, 4 in line hpf's if your not to worried about great sound quality. don't get me wrong it will sound alright but its far from a component set. All the above should only run you $40 than you have the rest for your amp, subs, box, and your wires.

worst advice ever. he said he doesnt want a half ass system.
RockyTop16,
you are going to have to extend your budget to do this.
rough idea:
minimum $100 for decent coax. more for components.
minimum $100 for wires. check http://www.knukonceptz.com/ for that.
minimum $150 for subs.
still need an amp or two.
check raammat for sound deadening. dont skimp.

haha! well yea he did say that he doesn't want a half ass system....
right after saying " subs are really important to me" If he wants decent subs and a decent amp to push the subs he's going to have to leave the mids and highs stock, go the cheap rout that I suggested, or take a hit and buy used or not so great sub and amp set up.

get yourself some cdt components off woofersetc.com ($99 shipped)
profile amp for comps from www.profileusa.com (~40ish)
wiring from wal-mart (you're selling the truck anyways, and you're not competing, it'll be fine) $25
right now we're at ~$165ish and you need sub(s), sub amp, box (or materials) and sound deadening.
I recommend just getting ONE above average sub (say $100-150?rather than 2 cheap ones, building your own box (bout $50ish)
now you're at ~365ish and you need sound deadening. You could do your doors waaay more than adequate with $140 (that's if you spend only $500), you could also do your floors, back wall, as well as your doors. (i'd do doors first if you're only going to do one area, it'll improve your midbass performance)
Hope this helps, shoot me a pm if you need anymore help.

Your advice is terrible, sorry.
$600
$150 deadening
$50 4ga wiring kit from Knu
$70 12" Mach5audio
$150 used 4chn amp with 2 bridgeable channels
$180 components
Don't buy a profile amp, when you can get something used that is way better for equal or less.

it isn't getting much better than what M5 Suggested though 150 for a used 4 channel might require a bit of shopping

if you can find a ~100x4ch that can be bridged to 2ohm:
Its worth all of $80

Start accumulating decent equipment for your new ride, and sing to yourself for a few months.
