I got a 3 inch lift and 33's on there right now and then going to go up to probably 35's. Right now I got 3:73 gears in the back and thinking about uping them. Should I do that and why??

i wouldnt worry about upping the gears unless you go bigger than 35s. anybody with a jeep will tell you to get 4.56 gears with 35s, but if you do your mpg will go to crap and your rpms will be a lot higher than necessary. unless you are gonna do any rockcrawling, i would leave the 3.73. if you are gonna do a lot of towing, then 4.10 gears will help out. my brother had 35s and stock 3.73 on his 2000 GMC and never had any problems. i had 35s on a set of 3.42 and still had a ton of power. depends on what you are gonna do with the truck.

I agree depends on the use. But I think 35's warrant a change. I would run 3.73s with 33s but with 35s I'd run a 4.10. That will return the gearing close to stock. With the 4L60, it is kinda different because the 1st gear ratio is very low which compensates for improper gearing.

Your rpms wont be high because the tire is so much bigger. But its not only the size of the tire. The bigger tires are a little heavier and harder to turn too.

You will feel the power difference with 3.73 and 35's. Anyone who says otherwise has forgotten what it was like before the put big tires on.

I have 35's on my 1500 and I had 3.42's it was a dog i put 4.56's that was money well spent I drive about 60 miles a day to and from work all highway I pull 2400 rpm at 80mph. It gets up and goes great and pulls a load good.
