I have a 97 k1500 that I would like start doing some performance work beyond tuning and bolt ons. I like the edelbrock super victor vortec manifold and the idea of using that manifold with the recommended throttle body and fuel rail kit seems like a solid upgrade. My question is, can my stock computer handle a setup like this. I am not ready to commit to the 0411 ecm swap, and was hoping that a simple tune or no tune would work with this setup.

This is were I found the setup at. Seems to me like it would work with the stock maf,and other sensors. But I am used to carburators and not efi.

I think you would be better off doing the exhaust upgrades first. You will see more gains that way.

Right now my truck has headers and exhaust, and an intake. I was wanting to move beyond that.

remember that our l31 vortec truck engines can only be tuned to 6000rpm, the intake you are looking at goes to 8000rpm not a good choice unless you upgrade computer, cam heads, and valvetrain. look into marine intake for more usable power in trucks powerband.

You should consider a cam change and a tune as future power upgrades.
