I got sick of having a cup holder that wouldn't hold a normal sized bottle. So I cut it up and put it back together the way I wanted it.

I made sure I left the tabs that hold it in place in the console.

I attached a band of brass to the bottom to take some of the load off of the liquid plastic. I didn't want to drop a bottle in it and have the bottom fall out.

And the finished product. I didn't get the paint perfect but it's not too bad.

Oh yeah and I had to cut a mounting tab off of the console in order to get the cup holder to go into the original location.

Thanks guys.

looks good. you gonna do the other one too?

Na, if I did that I would have to cut off the other mounting tab on the front of the center console. It's fine with three out of four, I don't think two would be very good.

what did you use to make the new bottom out of?

It was a small brita water pitcher, I think it was made for camping. I just cut the bottom of it off.

My drinks would "sweat" a lot in the summertime around here. I got so sick of it overflowing into the other compartments that I drilled a hole in the bottom of the cupholder and ran clear plastic drain tubing through a hole I drilled onto the floor. Never had that problem again!

Nice job!

Adapt and overcome, nice job. I like custom mods that look OEM.

As long as you find something to use for the bottom I can make one for you man. It took me a long time to find something that was the right diameter.
