I am currently working on a 2001 C3, 6.0 AWD.
I bought it it needing a little work and I need to figure out what to do on the suspension situation.

The way it came to me it has stock suspension up front, a hanger kit on the rear with the stock shackles and it still has the factory blocks on the rear. This has it sitting 1.5 inches at the fenders higher in the front than the rear.
I don't know if the PO was running it this way or what. They might have taken spindles off the front, not sure. Doesnt really matter, just need to decide what I need to do.

It has the factory 17" wheels with 265/70/r17s.

I already know I want to put Mcgauhy's spindles up front. That should get me about even with the rear as it sits now. Will my pinion angle be ok, with just the hanger kit or is it going to be way off?

How low can I actually go with the stock tires? I would like to go a little lower, maybe add keys to the front and shackes in the rear. I will be putting on 20s later, but for a few months I will be running these stockers.

I know there are stickies and I have read all that, but I'm looking for a little guidance in this particular situation.

Help me out here fellas, I've never lowered a 4x4 (well AWD, but whatever) before.

My friend has a C3 that has spindles, keys, shackles, hangers, and adjustable helper bags. It rides as good as it looks. It is on 20's in the summer and stockers in the winter. If I were in your situation I would do the spindles and see where you're at, but I would imagine you would need to do the shackles in the back to make it look right.

Do you know if he still has the block under the springs, and what size tires he is running on the 20s? I was thinking 285/50/r20.
I think I will buy some shackles and put the keys on when I do the spindles

this truck has the brackets for firestone helpers already on it, I would just need to buy the bags and a controller.

Not sure on the tire size, but I think it 285/50. As for the blocks, I would imagine they are still there because the drop was professionally installed.

There's nothing wrong with taking the blocks out, the 2wd trucks dont' have them. I was just wondering about general height with and without them.

I know there is nothing wrong with removing the blocks, what I meant by that is I can't imagine that is a normal thing shops do while lowering vehicles. Maybe it is, I really don't know. I love the block trick on those trucks, it is one of my favorite tricks anyone can pull off in their driveway.

Edit: by removing the blocks you get about 1.75" lower.

I hear ya...
If it didn't already have the hanger kit, I would probably put shackles and pull the blocks. I think that will put it lower than I want to go though with the hanger. Once I get the shackles and spindles, I'll see what she looks like with them and go from there.

That sounds like a good plan to me, keep us posted. I would give my left _ _ _ for a C3. Leg or nut, you pick:LOL:
