I'm looking to do an auto to manual swap with an hydraulic clutch setup (not in a truck) and was told that there is an hydraulic bellhousing from an '85 1 ton that'll work with the car transmission (muncie, T5, etc) bolt patterns. Is this true and if so does anyone have the part number or casting number for one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Great forum by the way, I've learned a lot more about GM trucks than I knew before.
Larry.

no you cant. the hydro bells have another ear cast into them to mount the slave cylinder.
the bellhousing you're looking for will be in an 85 or newer truck, with the slave cylinder on the drivers side.

Any chance you can narrow things down a little to maybe what engine/trans combination I should look for? I forgot to mention I'm looking to use a T5 with whatever hydraulic bellhousing will work with a SBC.
Thanks, Larry.

82-92 Camaros and Firebirds came with T5s and hydro clutches i do believe, and 85+ Chevy trucks equipped with an SM465 will have a hydro clutch. watch out for the newer 88-98 body style, 465s are tough to find in them, and IIRC the slave cylinder is on the passenger side.

I looked into the F Body bellhousings but I want a straight up shifter rather than the angled one in the Camaros and Firebirds. So the SM465 bellhousing will work with the T5 bolt pattern?

yes it is correct i think he would be able to spot the difference between a mechanical and hydro clutch if he cant then he shouldnt be doing what hes doing..i was assuming he knew the difference.
