Thanks for the help Spector Da Burb 12-05-2007, 03:22 PM They are OK to use...but...don't expect any help learning how to use one and don't expect any product support whatsoever. Also, you'll need to buy a scanner such as MXScan...not sure if it works with 96/97 yet. Works on 98's but they're different. Mine lives in the bottom of my toolbox and the only reason it'll ever come out again is to throw it in the bin! I use EFILive which is a totally different kettle of fish. Maximum support...regular FREE uprades...easier to use! SpectorsHoe 12-05-2007, 05:29 PM don't expect any product support whatsoever. Like product support from JET? what do you mean by a scanner? And is the EFILive the same design as the JET? sorry for all the questions, tryin to figure this out Da Burb 12-05-2007, 07:02 PM The JET Dynamic Spectrum Tuner requires a PC of some description (Laptop). You also need a scanner so you can monitor and record exactly what your truck is doing (air/fuel ratio, any knock, spark, transmission etc). The DST doesn't have a scanner built into it. You have to buy it seperately. That's where MXScan comes into it...a great product but another $70.00. EFILive is of a similar design but alot more user friendly and is a 'complete' tuning package. Neither are handhelds and both require ALOT of reading and learning in order to use them. EFILive has their own forum and you can actually contact and speak with the guy who owns and writes the program/s. Great customer support!!!! Jet...I've never received a reply to any emails I've sent them. No support. No how to's....you're on your own. Do a search for EFILive and read some stuff on their forum. SpectorsHoe 12-05-2007, 09:30 PM thanks for all the help DaBurb, I would have been so clueless Spector Da Burb 12-05-2007, 10:18 PM No problem. If you haven't got hours and hours to be able to sit down and learn to do this stuff yourself....it'll drive you crazy and it'd just be a waste of money. You'd be better off getting a tune from a reputable tuner. There are alot of very unhappy people around who bought the JET DST without really knowing what they were getting into (I'm one of them). I wasted about $800 on that crap! vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
