Well guys, thanks to yall running these I took off my 40 series flow and replaced it with a bullet dumped in the same location.
I must say it has less drone, is alot louder, and I havent noticed any loss in low end TQ. This is one bad ass sounding muffler! It makes my 04 5.3 RCSB sound mean. I am still running cats, whick I think helps eliminate the popping noise. All that is left is a smooth, loud rumble.
3" bullet 12" long- 41$ at Summit
3" Dynomax dump- 18$ at Summit
All labor and welding done by me.
Total cost 67$ out the door!:aniteef:

I'm glad you made the choice to switch to the dark forces...in my opinion, if you can't see straight through the muffler, it's too restricitive!!

A single bullet won't pop and actually the muffler has nothing to do with it popping. They do sound good though don't they? Mine is just too damn quiet though. I've got dual 2 1/2 inch pipes, bullets and no cats and my brother was complaining about me rattling the windows on his house the other night when I was idling but I just don't hear it and my hearing is excellent.

W3RD! My Dad picked it up and looked at it before I welded it on, his response was a huge grin and shaking his head back and forth....

I had no idea what makes it pop, I thought it was a combo of cats and the muffler:dunno:
You got a OBS,prob. with a 3fitty, running dual bullets and no cats........that should be fuggin LOUD!

Mostly pipe size and cats or no cats makes it pop or not.
It will pretty well stifle anything in its path but I just have dual tips out the back so I really don't hear the full brunt of it. I've had coworkers behind me on my way to work say they can hear me 4 or 5 car lengths back and I'm just more or less idling along at 40 mph. My dad claims he can hear me a couple miles out when I'm coming into town too.

bullets are a great alternative to chambered mufflers, the sound good

Anytime I do something or am about to and I get someone to shake their head with a grin, I know I'm on the right path!!!

I love my bullets but the only gripe i have with them is that they make a sucking noise when you run them for a little while. Does anybody else have this problem? i have a 97 Z71

Your borther's windows are being shaken by the sound frequency your exhaust is creating. It isn't loud to you because what you are experiencing is a very low sound frequency at a very low cycle. Think of it as low decibels but a lot of air being moved regardless of the lack of loudness. Think of your exhaust at idle as a teenagers sedan trunk stuffed with subwoofers. All it produces is low end frequencies that you can hear, feel, and which are working to rattle windows on your brother's house. Long and tall waves of sound move more air and this causes anything not fastened down well to rattle. My V-twin sportbike does the same thing at idle.:rocking: As the engine rpms increase the low end sound turns more into mid and high end frequency sound and you might notice the windows don't shake anymore when the rpms come up. It has everything to do with the science of sound waves.
My Gibson super truck system in rare cases has done some window rattling at idle as well and I know my exhaust produces a lot more lower end sound frequencies.
The popping does have a lot to do with pipe size. The smaller the diameter, the more likely it is to pop on decel. Straight through mufflers don't hurt either. What's creating the pops on decel is unburnt fumes and gases that are traveling from the cylinders and into the headers or manifolds. Once the headers are hot enough internally to ignite those unspent gases, they will do so on decel, and visually it looks like a tiny explosion of fire but we can't see that. We can only hear it and it sounds like rapid pops because the igniting is occuring in a tube instead of a cylinder. With shorter exhaust systems on Harley's or other bikes, you can see the flames shoot out the exhaust. Another good example is the Nascar setups. They look like they have flame throwers in their exhaust when they decel and load up the exhaust system with unburnt gases. The same thing to an extent is happening in your truck's exhaust and it happens all the time because it is normal.
I wish I knew someone with bullets in my area. I have no idea what they sound like and would very much so like to experience them for myself in person. Not a bad price for them either.
