1) i will need lots of help
2) i'm basically useless with tools
3) i am very patient
4) i am not as afraid of the ER as i am of the mechanic

just paid cash for this truck (will put some pictures up). was a great deal, but it had been sitting for quite some time and needed a little love. once the mechanic (family friend) was done with that, i drove on down the road to happiness. now 'things' are starting to happen and i needed a place to come seek advice.

welcome aboard! sounds like you might have gotten a deal. not to nit pick, but looking at your sig you say you have a 5.3, if it is a factory V8 motor it is either the 5.0 or 5.7. is it a 305 or 350?

just start posting away with your questions, we'll help ya all we can, bunch of great guys here...except for that MATTMC dude...gotta watch out for him...

yes, but you have to pay for it. alldata DIY has it but you have to buy subscriptions. but their info is better than the Chiltons IMO, it's the same manuals the stealership uses.

mind you now, i'm good with drums, computers, and the ladies :dunno: , but horrible with vehicles. would you still recommend it to help me get part numbers and parts schem's and such ? i guess i mean, to you it's worth the $24.95 / year ?

honestly, i've never used it myself, and i've only seen a few screenshots from it that were <cough>snuck<cough> online. but from what i've seen it's awesome. it will give you a LOT more insight than your average Chiltons or Haynes manuals. it is the same thing the dealers use. so it has all the proper procedures, the special tool numbers and all part numbers...
