What would it take for me to do a 5 speed conversion on my 350? Original motor was an inline six, converted to a 350 with an original t350 trans.
Really want a 6 speed, don't think I can afford it though.
Anyhow, let me know what I gotta do... Oh, and its gotta be on the cheap!

i went with a nv4500 brand new one which is why my kit was so expensive. but hit up your junkyards as long as its just a mild 350 a t-5 should hold nicely unless you are 4x4 then id recomend a nv4500

The swap would cost whatever you pay a junkyard for a clutch setup and a company for a 5 speed transmission. It all depends on what you choose. A t5 would be cheap but will also fail easy. A TKO600 will cost at least $2000 but won't fail, ever.

get a T-56 out of a junkyard...won't be THAT expensive and will take plenty of abuse...oh yea, best of all...ITS A 6-SPEED!

Everyone on my other two boards seems to be doing these junkyard T56 swaps.
www.montecarloss.com www.impalassforum.com Search around and you might find some useful info on there.

heck yea, if it's a 2wd, you don't need a REALLY HD tranny. the T-56 is MORE than adequate for the abuse you will put it through...
