Can an L31 be used in a 94-95 truck. I know they make the TBI intake to fit the L31 heads to take advantage of the better flowing heads, but I'd like to take advantage of the roller cam. I'm sure custom tuning would need to be done. Any comments/ideas?

yes it can be done. fast 305 even posted pictures of tbi,s on the l31 from the factory in import trucks. the intake manifold is expensive though. some use a carb intake with an adapter. custom tune would be neccesary. im not sure of hp numbers. might be around 260hp and 340tq.

IMO Would be an excellent upgrade using perf/gmpp manifold & good cust tune. Don't know the duration of the roller cam, but ran a flat tappet Performer w/around same lift as L31, good headers, same compression, and had some serious torque and significant HP gains.Hard to keep the tires planted though.

Vortec 350/305 cam 192/197 .412"/.427" 111LSA,

The Vortec will drop right in as far as headers, engine mounts. Use a Performer RPM carb intake with teh TBI on top or a Marine TBI intake for Vortec ehads. PM Fast305.

this is an old post but i was reading up on the vortec conversion and found it. i hear there is a coolant bypass in the L31 block that has to be hooked up properly or something or the engine will overheat. whats that about?? im guessing it will bypass the t-stat when cold?
