I like the classic bodystyles (my brother has a sweeet 82 longbed) but you gotta figure that 73 is gonna need EVERYTHING plus whenever you go to change something, you are going have to change everything in the vicinty of that part.
Plus, how many hands do you think have been in that truck since '73??? A '73 will require constant attention, no matter how nice it is.
Learn from my past expirience.
Keep what you got if you got no money, plus parts are cheap and everywhere for the '92

As much as I like older trucks, if you can only have one, I vote for keeping the Sierra. With it being newer, it should be slightly easier to find parts for it when you need it. That, and it is an extended cab.

I have two regular cab trucks. It's not very often, but, every once in a while I wish one of them were an extended cab.

Will this is coming from a fan of the classic body styles especially regular cabs. Get the '73. Actually, it's really up to you. Your the one that's going to be driving it. Do you have any pics of the Cheyenne?

i'd be torn here...but i say keep the Sierra and save money to get a nice classic down the road. i love my Sierra to death and can't part with her, but i'd sure love to have a newer ext. cab truck as a dd...

I say get the 73, classics are cool & every body has a 88-98 model truck these days. I just sold my bagged 94 Chevy short bed & bought a clean rust free 73 Suburban. The older truck will need more attention, I'm planning on rebuilding my whole Suburban a little at a time over the next year or so.

Sorry but longbeds lowerd are not pretty IMO, so I vote keep your 92. Or do like me and have one from both body styles :aniteef:

Longbeds can be pretty darn mean if lowered at just the right stance and also with the right wheels - if I'm to lower a longbed I'd make sure there's at least 2" rake, then put some rear wheels that are wider than the fronts (much wider, like 15x10 rears and 15x8 or even 15x7 fronts), add a nice air dam under the front bumper and you get yerself a nice racey-looking lowered longbed.

back on topic, keep the '92 - tis a much better technology than the '73, frame is stronger too. As much as I love my '79 if anyone offered me a trade for an early '90s regular cab shortbed with a 350TBI that's in good working order I'd be all over it, even moreso if the newer truck is also a stepper.

I told him to keep the 92, but I disagree with bored&strokeds statement;

while that doesnt look bad, it would still look better if it were a shortbed.

Sometimes, it's about being different, and not following the herd.

lol I knew my statement was going to be a calling out to some guys. There are exceptions to every rule. But he wanted an opinion, so he got one :)

keep the sierra...it won't need as much work as the 73 to get it to the way that you want it. plus it is an extended cab.

I own a '73 Chevy C10 longbed, she is a workhorse and fun to drive. If you go with the 1973 Cheyenne, I would recommend upgrading it to a 700R4 tranny; that's the next upgrade I'm planning for my old truck. She will be a better cruiser with overdrive.

So what did you do, man? I'm guessing you stuck with the '92.
I've had both styles, and I voted to keep your truck for the reasons already listed. But I guess it depends on what you want as the final product. Plus, I couldn't have a regular cab as a daily driver again; I use the 'backseat' area more than the bed!

i would keep the 92 to and just do some upgrades to it to make it feel new again
